If 'It: Chapter 2' hits $100+ million for the weekend, I am incredibly impressed. Back-to-back $100+ million opening films? This is blockbuster status for a horror franchise. Really cool.

Edit: I also just recently realized that, for as much as the runtime is a long one (at 2 hrs 50 min), it is only 15 minutes longer than the first film (which ran 2 hrs 35 min). Of course, that 15 minutes might feel like a long time when we're talking about a near 3 hour film.

Peace,

Mike

First film ran 2h15min.

IT2 PS for tomorrow looks good at AMC Empire 25. Today I saw 12 2D shows initially but actually increased to 16 bcos of demand. Tomorrow as well initial listing is just for 12 shows, but if shows start selling out I expect it to increase. Hope it has at least 15% increase tomorrow as morning shows have good demand.

I know I'm gonna sound like a hater but It 2 - YIKES. Probably the worst movie I've seen in theaters this year outside Godzilla. Too long, not scary, and overdosed on unearned nostalgia and sentimentality. I didn't quite love It 1, but that looks like an Academy Award winner next to this mess.

Hmmmmmm.... serious, or having some fun with us? I’ll come back in an hour and I guess it’ll be all sorted out.

First IT true friday was 36.926, previews 13.5

IT 2 preview were 10.5M starting at 5 PM instead of 7PM cancelling that I would imagine should fully make up for the longer running time.

IT 2 having the same multiplier of 2.735

10.5/13.5*36.926 = 28.7M (or 10.5 * 2.735)

Not that far of a 26mn, considering this is a sequel with a 5PM previews, I imagine we should not be surprised for a little bit smaller multiplier.

WTF. Ugly evening. 26mn.

IT & Nun doubled its 17:00 reported number, IT 2 was just able to 1.5x.

Late shows are probably where that long running time comes into play.   A 10pm show means leaving after 1am.  A lot of theaters close before then  (unless it's an Avengers or SW o/w) so the latest shows may be in 8 or 9 o clock hour.

Well that's a bummer before bed.

Now I'm back to being off the $100M train. Guess the multi based on the estimated true Friday really was too good to be true.

I was the guy saying that 30 seemed high and people shouldn’t be too surprised if it came in at 27-29 or so this morning, so it’s not like the number doesn’t make sense to me as an OD. It’s more that Jat, Asgard, and Deadline all seemed to be in agreement with 32+ in the afternoon, and 26 is a huge drop.

If it really is that night’s took a huge plunge I think that makes plenty sense for s 3 hour movie that isn’t Avengers level appeal — but since Charlie did give a fake number that one time just to see how we’d react I’m going to be only 80% sure or so, for now.

I actually know I did, but when I forget.

Me too :hahaha:

I was pretty sure the 26 was serious, but geeze, that is a big drop off in the late hours.

It will need a good Saturday bump to lock 200.

 number doesn’t make sense

be in my shoes;

1. I check the pre-sales, looks great. Thought 30 gonna happen.

2. Look at mid day numbers, very good trend as well, 33 almost certain.

3. Wake up after 5 hours in morning, number still looks good but may be 32 not 33. RTH also gave same number so didn't bother much later.

4. Goes to office 5 hours after waking up, open the data, and WTF are these last 5 hours.
