Joker will cross $900m at the global box office this weekend. The supervillain origins story starring Oscar contender Joaquin Phoenix has amassed $596.1m through Warner Bros Pictures International and stands at $878.3m It: Chapter Two has grossed $242.1m and opens in Japan, where the 2017 original arrived on $1.6m on the way to $19.3m. That's it 596.1-574.1 = 22m. I know it will be much better. Surely it will increase too. Crazy hold. Haha Even 22m/33.6 = already 35% drop, and surely it will increase with actual number. That early $588.8m update was from Mojo, which is why the numbers didn't look good (we compared it with last week Screendaily update), now with Screendaily's update we can make a better comparison, last week's Screen daily update (released on Friday too) suggested that Joker made $30.6m on weekdays, so that (supposed) $22m on weekdays this week was pretty good.

Yup if we go by last 3 weeks, that number from Screendaily will increase too. Probably to 23-24, but even 22m already good enough. If I has to predict it will get to 23m weekdays and 34m weekend. For 57m Mon-Sun, a bit optimistic but let's hope Europe cooperate with good drop. Edited November 1, 2019 by RJ 95

Also Screendaily always underestimate. If you mean smaller market having a steeper drop this week than yeah probably.

Michael Seng Wah
It’s good. With this there’s a shot of 930m WW by this Sunday, heard holidays in few countries? 1b should be within sight when Frozen 2 arrives.
TheUndertaker
We are never sure if the numbers are through wednesday or thursday, so the fair comparison is what screendaily reported last week and this week, regardless. Can't compare Mojo to Screendaily. So yeah, around -35%, which is pretty good (and in line with the available numbers that get posted on the forum day by day). DOM weekend is poised to drop around that number so I imagine OS will follow as well. 920M floor is my guess. If it makes closer to 930M, the billion is locked.

They always underestimate. Either way 22-24m already a good number. What's important is weekend gross because there are some part of Europe which have holiday. Hopefully also drop in 30-35% range.

RJ 95
Friday - Japan Joker finally dethroned from first place for the first time on it's run by IT chapter 2 and one local movie release. Like what's been said in Japan BO thread, today (1st of every month) is a discount day , means that even though Joker increase by 70% in admission number. In yen/dollar it only increase by approx 26% from yesterday and still dropping just 15.5% from last week. Monday holiday will help Sunday evening business and at least still ensure a normal increase. It will get at least $2m. In Portugal, Joker with €113k from Mon-Wed making it accumulated already €3.57m, just €313k more from Avengers:Endgame. It will past that this weekend if it manage to not dropping above 23% and with Friday holiday will just only help that. https://ica-ip.pt/pt/downloads/box-office/ Edited November 1, 2019 by RJ 95 3 1

Ooooo thnaks But it's already surpassed Endgame in Greece, Egypt and now presumably Portugal in the coming days, but are there any other countries in which it has beat Endgame's record? TheUndertaker
So, with a 1.88M thursday DOM, Joker made 7.75M DOM during the weekdays. With 22M overseas, that would be 29.75M WW. 7.75M DOM out of 29.75M is 26%. If that ratio holds over the weekend, with a 13M DOM, global grossing on the weekend would be 50M, making Joker reach 930M. 2
peludo
Joker remained yesterday at #1 in Spain facing Terminator opening. If it is able to keep the spot along the weekend, it will be the first film since local hit "Spanish Affair" (2014) winning 5 weekends in a row (Spanish Affair won 9). And beyond that, just "The Impossible" (5 weekends), "Tad: the explorer" (5), "The Orphanage" (6) and "Avatar" (9), have been able to do it since 2005. 4 4
