Old | M. Night Shyamalan | July 23, 2021 | Eliza Scanlen, Thomasin McKenzie, Aaron Pierre, Alex Wolff and Vicky Krieps

This looks creepy but at the same time really goofy. We'll see what twists M. Night has in store. He's assembled a pretty fantastic cast here if nothing else, McKenzie in particular is looking to establish herself as a solid star in the scary genre between this and Last Night in Soho.

This kinda looks more on the side of the Happening in terms of Shyamalan's catalog.

Seen a couple of other people say this too. The Happening is great so I'd love more of that.

Revisionist history going on. I liked The Happening when it came out and still do. Highly underrated. People were too critical back in the day.

It would only revisionist history if he said The Happening was liked by audiences.

It got a D Cinemascore and fell 66% in its second weekend. Most audiences didn’t like it.

Anyway, this looks good, but the lead actress seems annoying, her delivery is cheesy.

I hope so much that this film is good and has a good plot/twist.
The trailer made me very curious. And the mix of mystery and summer feeling works very well IMO. The theme could help too because this is something where everyone is interested (more or less).
The reactions also in Germany were good with many people putting it on their wish list for the summer (released here July 29, at least after the EM).

I could imagine that this film, with decent reviews (I think that is needed), could indeed surprise and open with 25M, could be also more with good marketing.
This is no sequel like AQP II or The Conjuring 3 but the name of the director compensates that I think. A lot of people are still hoping for a new Sixth Sense (very difficult of course).

Just saw The Village, and really don't understand the hate for this guy. If anything, I'm sad he doesn't create images anywhere near as beautiful as pre-Avatar days anymore.

Does M. Night even have any backlash associated with him anymore? The "Next Spielberg" Newsweek cover obviously didn't pan out but he's done a fine job rehabilitating his career from the dark Lady in the Water through After Earth era in recent years.
