To be fair, Sony is kinda doing it to themselves now. There's no reason to hype up a trailer this much if it's just gonna be a normal trailer. Endgame just randomly dropped its second trailer one morning iirc.

I think it will go well either way.  Seeing the iconic villains in their full glory will get enough people satisfied.

They've already made it clear that there will be surprises (translation: star appearances) at this thing. I will never stop laughing if Tom and Zendaya show up only to be greeted by a bunch of boos and popcorn-throwing by fans who were expecting Tobey or Andrew to appear.

This is getting out of hand, I think.

 

Can you imagine if Tobey and Andrew really aren't in the movie and we get 3 Spider Men played by Tom Holland? The backlash would be unreal. It would be toxic for the movie's performance.

At this point even if they are not there Sony would get them in at least for couple of days of green screen shooting. Otherwise it will be a disaster with all the crazy subterfuge seen so far. I could see horrible cinemascore for sure.
