Great Saturday and Sunday for Joker! Very pleasantly surprised after a more muted opening day than I had expected.

Still wish it got over $100M though. All these $90M+ weekends this year are annoying me. I have no idea why.

There was no controversy. A handful of bloggers looking for clicks does not a controversy make.

I have to disagree there. It might have started out as a few bloggers yelling, but the media got a hold of the story and it just snowballed. When on Friday just about everey major new outlet was doing the story on "the Joker" ahd the potential for violence, that is a controversy, even if a silly one.

The opposite, I think !

The Academy tends to think the financials are reward enough.

Not true. We've had at least one big money maker almost every year for the past decade. Last year we had two. Popularity can help films that already had some buzz before releasing.

Maybe all the media fears/FBI warnings shaved off $4m from the opening weekend? FBI are Disney shills?

Not only for Joker. They shaved off 8m for FFH and 9m for It: Chapter 2 just to fuck with us OCD folk.

Ugh, those bastards. Do they not know how we suffer?
