$3,3m is not a small ask for a movie that have been out in home media for so long.

Yeah, it won't be easy.  But with Lyle flopping and no other animated movies making serious cash right now, it's not impossible

In hindsight I think this would have worked really well as a holiday season opener on the 4th, similar to other DreamWorks animations that opened on the first weekend of November (Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa, Megamind, Puss in Boots [before it moved last minute to the last weekend of October to get ahead of other family films] etc.). There's certainly room for it. When's the last time November was this barren at the box office? Has to be before the 2000's.

First weekend of Nov would have been fine with how Strange World ended up flopping so badly. Its only animated competition would have been DOA.

 

Even better this should have taken Turning Red's date on March 11th and would have done well against The Batman.

 

Really wish this had hit $100m and Sonic 2 hit $200m DOM.

Yep, and even if Strange World didn't flop, Disney and DreamWorks have shared November before. Thanksgiving weekend is Disney's traditional spot and that's far away enough from the first weekend of November for both movies to breathe.
