In my opinion it had an effect but nowhere near $25M worth of tickets; but it is impossible to know either way. It would please me if Venom and Joker had different types of runs. You could have expected a movie like Joker to open lower but have better legs. Following Venom all the way through (like in the first couple of days) would really mean that franchise/CBM audience matters more than anything in theaters these days.
