I was expecting this to be a passable action flick, but throughout, I just couldn't help thinking how Looper and Logan did it soooooo much better, in all aspects. This was proper bad and I'm really happy its flopping, as such a lazy movie deserves to be completely ignored. Flat action, what little humor never landed, Will Smith half-asleep, a weak story, and the CGI was outright bad. I don't mean the de-aging - though most of it was only so-so, with some scenes distractingly bad. Remember last thursday initially the numbers looked way below wednesday but it ended up quite good. Can't think of anything worse than hfr when it comes to movies. Maybe if I'd never seen a movie before, sure. I saw Kermode's review when I got home and, even though I had far more issues with the movie (basically all of it), he focuses a lot on the hfr, though it is completely valid - it just doesn't look cinematic. Today every film will look bad in comparison to Monday and even last Tuesday as business was shifted due to the holiday. A 30% drop is a good solid hold.
