I don't think so. The internet is a bubble and the trailer isn't that bad, should appeal to families..

Yeah, the main trailer on YT is at 20.5m with 460k likes - pretty great for a family film even with probable Marvel fan boost.  Except for Indian films which now get a consistently crazy amount  of views, over the last month only the latest SW trailer has more views with 25m views and 479k likes.

This is good. The more old franchise movies flop the more studios will be reluctant to continue them indefinitely.

Last decade we had multiple new universe and franchise like HP, LOTR, TW, POTC and 1st Spiderman

this decade, what we have is all superhero film. Outside of Marvel/DC, this decade produces limited number of new franchise/universe except maybe THG. the rest are all reboot like Jurassic, diminishing franchise like fantastic beast and POTC, and endless of nostalgic -fueled property.

We have John Wick, the only good franchise

A lot of movies appeal to families. Don't see why Dolittle would do well. And the trailer has a decent amount of views but I think that's just a Pika Pika situation where people are watching it because of the novelty of it.

Fantastic Beast 2 just sucked. That's why it was diminished. Horrific in comparison to all 8 HP films and FB1

3 Downton Abbey $1,100,000 -44% 912 -746 $1,206 $94,420,540 7 Focus Features

(pro.BO estimate)

Looks to miss 100 after all unless it's pushed. Won't make it past 97-98 by itself.

5 The Addams Family $8,200,000 -32% 3,607 -600 $2,273 $84,996,000 4 United Artists Releasing
6 Zombieland: Double Tap $6,900,000 -42% 3,337 -131 $2,068 $58,857,162 3 Sony Pictures

TAF should make it to 100.

Happy for ZL2's hold. Won't miss 70 even if it shows bad legs now onward, but will miss ZL1's 75.6 dom.

So, OT, but I always feel like November is a good time for mysteries, so I finally broke down and watched (with my oldest son) Netflix's Murder Mystery this afternoon.  My son enjoyed it (although some jokes thankfully went over his head), and I found it passable for a tv movie (why, yes, I am damning with faint praise:).  Netflix was definitely the right release medium for a movie that's a fun, free way to pass the time, but no more:)...

Which WB horror film flopped this year? As far as I know, all have been hits.

WB haven't had a bad year really apart from KOTM.

LEGO2 under-performed massively but still beat it's 100 prod budget dom.

Kind of annoying to see JJR nearly matching Parasite's gross in about half the theaters, but there is the intrinsic advantage of being in English.

Hmmm, Jojo Rabbit is playing in  3 different theaters here (Virginia Beach area) but the closest Parasite screening is still over 80 miles away. Usually, when a movie expands to 400-500 theaters, it will hit our market, even if it's only at the independent theater in what passes for the hipster section of this region. But I checked the movie's website, and nothing, and I am not making a 3-hour round trip, so it'll have to wait.

Anyway, I wonder how much of the Parasite expansion this week was to more theaters in areas where it already is, vs. new markets.
