AMC Update

Mal 2 way better than estimates. Drop in low 20's compare to yesterday and low 30'%s compared to last sunday. Joker is dropping like 33% from yesterday 28-29% from last sunday.

FYI these are raw ticket numbers. $ grosses have variables like children/senior tickets, % fo premium tickets etc. Mal 2 lost all Imax/PLF and so its avg ticket price will be lower. Plus its just one chain and so it could over/under index.

But I am sure Mal 2 will go up quite a bit from estimates. Joker may not move much may be a little bit to hit 14m if rest of the weekend do not go down(with actuals fri/sat grosses also change a bit).

Thanks! Always hard to decide what parts of past histort performance are worth holding too and I guess the bad Sunday numbers in 2013 are not lol. That Sunday hold for Mal2 Disney put out seemed over steep before now its just laughable.

I hope. Needs what 500+ million to break even. Huge mountain to climb. I love RDJ.

I don't know if it'll make 500 million WW. I don't judge success on budgets anymore. Studios are out of control with them so I consider it a little unfair. I understand that doesn't make sense to most people here, but that's how I think.

Doolittle was never going to be some uber blockbuster. It's the studio's fault that such lofty expectations were placed on it, all because the director wasted away money. 150 mil domestic is doable though, and would be considered a mild success for this movie under normal circumstances.

DAFAQ. That's horribly low estimation on Disney part, this far out in run.

My morning:

> wake up

> see Disney "estimate" for Sun

> "lmfao, this will increase by like 30%"

@captainwondyful chose it as a movie to predict for Survivor after last wknd expansion. With no TCs available on Thursday, went for 220k 😬

I'm not sensing much in the way of buzz for Doctor Sleep tbh. Could see it land in the low-$20M range next weekend. Which would fine since I doubt it costs much but I imagine studio thought a sequel to The Shining would be a bigger deal than it's looking to be.

But why would people want to watch a sequel to a film most people don't like? The Shinning is one of those films people either haven't seen or think is shit unless you are a film geek with a pretentious opinion. When will hollywood learn

Terminator numbers are a bit disappointing, but I would wait to see how it holds next weekend before declaring it a total disappointment. Joker made just $234 million worldwide on its opening weekend, and it's now going to pass $1 billion. With similar legs Dark Fate could pass $500 million worldwide.

I wouldn't consider Terminator to be a disappointment as that would mean it was originally expected to do well. If anything it's a surprise 29m worth of tickets were actually sold

I said it yesterday, the drop was in line with 2013 drops, so actually, Disney did their work, but it turned out, that 2019 went a bit different in terms of drops.

Holy fucking shit. What a weekend. WHAT A WEEKEND.

Joker flat. Rainy Day in New York flat. Maleficent increased nearly 25% from last weekend. Addams Family exploded. Terminator opening like 40% above Genisys.

Doctor Sleep tho 😅
