So I guess this settles Frozen’s crown as the biggest animated franchise internationally.

Although an argument for Despicable Me /Minions could also be made.

There is no doubt that Frozen is the biggest international animation franchise

Dm is top 2

But DM grossed 3.7 billion so far worldwide, Frozen will be at 2.8 billion by the end of F2's run.

If they make F3, it will be close between them.

Are you comparing the TOTAL box office for ALL movies in each franchise? That's not what we're talking about here.

Anyway yeah, Frozen is the biggest worldwide. While it might not be the biggest in North America, Latin America and Europe, it's still pretty big in those regions. And of course Frozen in Asia is a monster.

Yes I'm talking total gross for all in each franchise, not average per film.

Pakistan box office:

Frozen 2 has taken it’s grand total till now around estimated PKR 82.5 million and the film has now overtaken 3 Bahadur 2 to become second highest grossing animated film of all time. The film is now only behind local film The Donkey King

Frozen 2 is the biggest Hollywood animated film in Pakistan,English animated film is not popular in Pakistan                        except Frozen,Frozen 2 is only Hollywood animated film to enter the top 10 animated film of all time in Pakistan, top 2 Hollywood animated film is not even half of Frozen 2

by the way,Frozen 2 break OD recrod for animated film in Pakistan, first time for Non-local animated film to did this

Top 5 animated film in Pakistan

  1. The Donkey King (local)
  2. Frozen 2
  3. 3 Bahadur: The Revenge Of Baba Balaam (local)
  4. 3 Bahadur (local)
  5. 3 Bahadur: Rise Of The Warriors (local)

That's a delightfully specific list, but it seems to be missing Frozen 1 (maybe the limited first 5 days confuse their system?)
The TRUE record holder

Dec 26, 2013 Thursday 2 $9,108,703 +43.3% +314.4% 3,335 $2,731 $219,521,476 35
If there aren't other missing movies, this does mean that the Frozen franchise claims the top 2, so that's pretty neat. Edited by Arendelle Legion

Yeah, those Numbers lists are a bit screwy due to their treatment of limited releases.

You can also see American Sniper way too high up on a lot of these for that same reason.

Not sure why they don't do the reasonable thing and count only from wide release onward.

Well, that’s not the issue here exactly. Frozen 1’s 5th Thursday of wide release is the 5th counting from limited as well, since it went wide on Wednesday. They don’t list the wrong Frozen Thursday, it’s just completely missing. The 6th (5.3M) or 4th (2.2M) would still be decently high up.

I thought it was strange that Frozen wasn't even on the list.

So I guess then they count the first (limited release preview?) Thursday, which means the 5th Thursday becomes...

Quote
Dec 19, 2013 Thursday 3 $2,198,122 +22.8% +28.1% 3,716 $591 $172,392,010

When it really should be the following week.  I kind of like the idea of Frozen and Frozen 2 being #1 and #2 on the list anyway.

the-numbers.com don't count the difference between "limited release" and "wide release" so these charts regarding records at week number x or y or z are useless. They have Frozen one week later cause counting the limited opening at El Capitan theatre as week 1.

That is not the issue in this case. Because Frozen went wide on Wednesday, the nth Wednesday and Thursdays of limited release and wide release are the same. They have the 6th Thursday correctly listed as the 6th Thursday, the 4th Thursday correctly listed on the 4th Thursday list, but the 5th Thursday specifically is just missing.
