Tbh those spots at best 5th Thursday etc doesn't mean that much because we are comparing so many different things. January 5th thursdays won't ever come close to boxing day thursdays or 5th Thursdays in the summer, 5 week holiday thursdays etc.  So to me atleast those records don't mean much with out the context.

Or perhaps like many Frozen was super popular because of Let it Go which did not require viewing the movie. Sure many loved it (self included) but that song had a huge hook.

 

Also the Frozen musical has been immensely popular which helped as well like it did in Lion King.

A pity that it's gonna get so close to $1.5bn worldwide and $500M domestically, but will likely not reach it 😕

I wasn't all that impressed with Let It Go until I saw it in the context of the movie.

 

But after understanding Elsa's backstory and her physical and emotional isolation...

 

The entire Let It Go sequence in Frozen is incredibly powerful.

True but in that instance Show Yourself crushes it. I think almost every kid and quite a few adults just loved how ear wormy it was.

I think Show Yourself is on the same level and possibly even better than Let It Go (due to the interaction with Elsa's mother), but I have a pet peeve about people attributing the success of Frozen almost completely to Let It Go. Just as Frozen would not have been as popular without Let It Go, the song by itself, and even that sequence in the movie, wouldn't have been as impactful were it not for groundwork that was laid by the earlier songs in the Frozen.

I think without Let It go Frozen does 150 million less in Japan and 500 million less worldwide.

 

Moana imo was a better movie and has way better replay value. Yet it made under 700.

Where did you get these numbers? Lol. You think too much of Let It Go. Yes, that song was one of the main factors contributing to Frozen's success. But without the other songs, it wouldn't have done anything. People love the whole soundtrack. One great song wouldn't have been enough to make Frozen the cultural phenomenon that it has been.

 

Also, without the story and especially the characters in the movie, those songs, including Let It Go, would have been nothing. One of the main reasons people love Frozen is the characters. Otherwise, they wouldn't have cared much about Frozen 2.

For me the soundtrack without let it go is so much weaker than the sequel. 

Characters were fun but so simplistic in the first. Again I loved it but I love Moana too and Frozen 2 went into so much more detail. Songs were much richer, deeper, versatile etc.

TBH anything over 1.4B is amazing for Frozen, that's an 10% increase over the first one that already was the biggest animation movie ever.

If this get close or to 1.5B it would be nuts and the fun thing is it has a shot.
