Lionsgate’s previews last night for Rian Johnson’s Media Rights Capital movie Knives Out grossed $1.66M off shows that started at 7PM, raising its total preview cash including weekend sneak money to $3.7M. Pic opens in 3,391 theaters today and expands to 3,461 by Friday. Pic has a 96% certified fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes. Lionsgate will add the $3.7M previews  and sneaks into today’s opening total. In early Screen Engine/Comscore PostTrak exits last night, Knives Out received 4 stars with a 66% definite recommend.  Leading demos were men over 25 (41%), females over 25 (36%), men under 25 (12%), and females under 25 (11%). Diversity demos were 61% Caucasian, Hispanic 12%, African Americans and Asians at 11%. Note these exits will fluctuate throughout the five day stretch.

That's awesome for KO. That would be in line with Creed 1 ($4.6M without Tues previews). If it actually does better than expected at night, I wouldn't be surprised if it was closer to 5 in True OD.

Yes. After OD a movie’s level of PS heaviness is baked in to future days projection from PS. Can look at PSm change of comps rather than absolute PSm level of comps. Exactly how it happens in China, Japan, SK, etc.

I was saying for some time this was going to break out for TLJ haters rave about it. At least people I know that saw both and hated TLJ absolutely love and recommend KO.

I like Evans better, but if you put him in MIBI and Hems in KO I doubt either would see their grosses change much.

Weird that it heavily overindexed at 2MTC. The previews was just 2x the MTC which is lowest I have seen. Or it sold tons of kiddie tickets. But let us see how things go.
