lol Charlie's Angels is holding onto over 3,000 theaters this week. Every theater (at least around here) is cutting it down to 1 show a day so that low PTA will provide the laughs at least.

Why didn’t theater owners just cut the movie out of theaters yesterday when they could’ve given those leftover showtimes to Knives Out?

1 showtime makes for variety for those who may not see KO or Frozen. Happens a lot at the holidays

Midway will be ~49 on Sun (0.6 Thu + 2.8 FSS) on it's way to ~55 dom.

Quote

I hear Midway is a pretty good win for Lionsgate, not awesome, but solid. This movie, which had international rights handled by AGC Studios, reportedly cost $100M, with a net of $75M after credits. Foreign sales and a hefty China deal (the latter overseen by CAA Media Finance with Bona) covered $60M of that nut. Lionsgate took UK and U.S. with an MG and solid P&A (around $40M) and screen commitment. They do not have equity in the film, but reap the upside of a distribution deal (“I’ve never known Lionsgate to not do a distribution deal,” remarks one film finance source about the distrib’s involvement in foreign sales financed pics that aren’t theirs). $65M domestic is break-even on the film overall, I’m told by finance sources. In the $30M-range, Lionsgate starts making money.

OS last weekend was 56. Don't know how much more to come considering China's done.

Can it be called a success?

@Barnack would love your take on it.

Probably cannot be cut during the first 14 days or something like, contractual obligation.

BATB didn't leg it well after the 2nd weekend.

90.4 weekend for 319.0 cume and then added 185 (barely over 2x the 2nd weekend).

But gargantuan numbers as such, so understandable.

Cinderella was similar too.

Added 78.5 after 35 2nd weekend.

What are you thinking for Friday bump? 150% from 14 still gets it to only 35. 35-35-21 is like 91.

I’m looking at Fri related to Wed instead of thurs, still like 40-low 40s. If Thrs dips a lot I think that mostly just leads to a bigger black Fri bounce.

Before going to sleep, yeah Frozen is in that range.

KO lead over Wednesday is taking a big hit,  bit earlier than usual, its just might cross 7 unless evening it can taken even higher hit.

Let's see I don't wake to absurd numbers in 5 hours

I've seen many theaters with 60-75% capacity for evening shows in AMC theaters. I think it could still get to 7.
