Black Widow Overseas Thread.

It's not disappointing. Perspective people. It's a filler movie made for fans of the character who is dead. I wager they would have generated more interest if it was marketed as "Marvel introduces a new awesome character" like any other move instead of marketing it as Natasha movie (that's really a hidden Yelena original movie). It's a sidequel taking place in the past, no connection to Phase 4. So this is a solid result given lack of importance. Not many studios would get away with it.

No, a Marvel that makes less than $400M, I wouldn't call it a "solid" result especially for a budget over $200M.

You do realise that a) we dont know where it will finish ,seems 400-450 for now and 2) that would be without china.... we dont know if.,when or how it will do there same goes with the south east asia countries......anyways  lets see how it will hold in the coming days....

Making less than 400m would be a dissapointment even with the circumstances at hand.

This movie has a 200m budget and bigger marketing budget since it had to revamp it's marketing after all the delays.

Even the PA cover will have to be reverted back to cover some of the budget .

Still think this will make 500-550m+ (PA included+china) and probably make a profit on home video.

60m PA was a good headline last weekend but it's far from declaring it profitable.

Dom legs and oS legs will need to  be good going onwards and has to hope delta doesn't halt proceedings.

Don't think this is  getting 450m raw box office without china . 400-425m

China if it releases will probably 55-70m if it releases , reception from douban is mixed .

BW should have stayed on it's release date of may 2021 or put cruella at the beginning of may and gone with memorial day.

It’s a shame asia is closed and there’s no China release. And Australia is back in lockdown. And countries have capacity restrictions. And it’s available at home. And piracy. And a pandemic. And a variant.

So yeh. That’s a lot going against it.

For studios, they probably think it's not a big deal as long as they could earn huge in the future. I'm not even sure if little Bob give a shit about bad theatrical revenue because his power is mostly based on great streaming performance. And the biggest reason he didn't put all of upcoming titles on D+ is taking care of the remaining forces of old Bob who still love screen experience.

I got $4M overestimated in UK, Mexico and France. And it's not like I was expecting some great hold in these markets. UK will be $2.75M weekend based of these #s, that's 60% drop from 1st weekend with shitty Sunday.

This ain't hitting $200M.

It seems to me that a comparision with antman 2 is way more fair

New Zealand probably the least covid affected territory there. 78% despite PA looks quite impressive actually. Speaks to perhaps 550+ in normalcy imo (with a healthy Labor Day China gross).

As is, needing some late China release to pass Solo 😔
