I don't get the criticism behind that. Why can't we just accept that, that creature was a space cow. You can believe that force exists but not space cows.

Don't tell me you don't drink other animal aka cow milk.

thats not the point

with the way it was handled, the intention behind it was for purely comedy and it just came off as bizarre and out of place in a SW, just like a your momma joke

and i don't drink cow milk anymore fyi, or hardly any dairy

Sure he is and he can go subvert expectations somewhere else those guys and Filoni get Star Wars more than he ever will

All you guys need to admit that Star Wars just isn't that good generally.

Out of 11 movies only two of them were actually great. It won't happen but this franchise needs to go away for 20 years.

The space cow was not for comedy.  That whole sequence was about making life for Rey miserable.  He wanted her to leave.  That scene specifically succeeds in making the audience as uncomfortable with the idea of drinking fresh green milk as Rey is supposed to feel in that moment.

I wouldn't put it as low as 2 - probably 3 or 4 for me - and it doesn't need to disappear for 20 years but I agree otherwise.

So the internal multiplier/WOM is bad because of TLJ?

Yes. Everything is because of TLJ.

People got mad, because of TLJ.

The story of TRoS is face pace and convoluted, because of TLJ.

Luke doesn't shine, because of TLJ.

We have a villain back from the dead out of nowhere, because of TLJ.

Fuck that movie.

The actual original Star Wars films are all good. The prequels weren’t. The newer films are just fan fiction. Some of it quite good (Rogue One), but mostly not. But I think most franchises should take a break, or rather just stop. Terminator and Terminator 2 are good films. That doesn’t mean we have to, or even want to, get new Terminator films (or tv-shows) every few years.

Adjusted for inflation of 2019 prices according to BOM, Revenge of the Sith is at $536.4M.

I would imagine he falls into the camp of it not meeting his story to use the legitimate numbers as the rest of the film community does. Granted it doesnt necessarily account as accurately for premium formats but the difference wouldnt be close to 200m....

But you do agree that a $1.1B movie now isn't as big as a $850m movie in 2005 right (comparably).

At the end of 2005 this was the all time world wide chart. https://web.archive.org/web/20051214031026/http://www.boxofficemojo.com/alltime/world/

MODERATION:

Wakes up.

Sees the OW Estimate.

The Mods have discussed it.  We're going to lax the "No Agenda" rules slightly so that "What Went Wrong" discussions can continue.  THAT SAID, THIS IS ABSOLUTELY NOT AN EXCUSE TO TROLL OR ATTACK YOUR FELLOW MEMBERS.  It is also NOT an excuse to turn this into anti-Rian, anti-Kathy, anti-JJ, anti-Disney, anti-George, anti-Baby Yoda free for all.  Make your point, express your feelings, move on.  If the moderators feel you're badgering on, we will take action.

This is also NOT an excuse to turn this into The Fanboy Wars.  Please focus on what might or might not have gone wrong with Star Wars; not how [Other Fandom] might or might not have done things better.  The's enough to focus on without bringing Marvel, DC, Harry Potter, or Lord of The Rings into it.

Everything else stands:

TL;DR. No spoilers, no fanboy wars. Keep it nice, keep it neutral, don't attack others, and you'll be fine. If you don't do this stuff, you'll risk a threadban, a suspension, or even a permanent ban, so tread lightly. Outside of that, just have fun!

I don’t know how anyone can spin this movie’s numbers so far as a good thing. Sure, an opening like this would be great for most films, but it’s much lower than what its predecessors made, and considering that this is supposed to be the epic finale to the Skywalker Saga, that’s definitely underwhelming. This is just more proof that Disney’s Star Wars is experiencing some serious diminishing returns.
