Missing 459,005,868 would be a funny parallel with 2015, but doesn’t seem remotely likely to me still.

Honestly, with the horrible drops on Fri, Sat and overall 2nd weekend plus most likely a bad drop in 3rd weekend, legs aren't going to be pretty.  Holds show WOM as horrible so far and with these holds, it can easily miss 450M at this rate since buisness will drop off after NY's weekend.

Holy crap, it's going to miss 1B WW, man what an epic disaster of a performance.

Perhaps I wasn't being knee-jerkish before and I should listen to my gut. This thing is tanking now. Didnt even wait until after the whole holiday season, all it took was getting past Boxing Day.

This is good though. This is the kind of dramatic behaviour at the box office the film needs to make a statement to Lucasfilm.

It is good. Don't reward studios when they fuck up beloved properties. I remember when Justice League died I took comfort in the fact that heads would roll at WB and that Snyder would never be allowed near DC properties again. His golden boy days were done for good. Lucky Kevin Tsujihara was axed eventually for other reasons of course but I'm just glad that he is gone.

At the beggining of the week, people here said that $600m was locked with a chance at surpassing TLJ.

Now, we're talking about an O/U $480m scenario.

This franchise never stop giving us the goods.

This run is a wild ride

Pretty fun to follow, I'll give it that

I wonder if Disney will give a typical Disney Sunday lowball. If it’s heading for a real 66, would they give an official 63 or something? Imagine the headlines.

My guess is that Disney is going to play it optimistic to avoid even more panic from headlines.

Yes, that's exactly what I'm hoping for.  I want better.  I want a REAL story in my next Star Wars film.

I mean, bash Rogue One or Solo, but I could at least tell you what both movies were about in a start-to-finish way (and I much preferred both to any movie in this trilogy).  Maybe that's what Star Wars should keep doing - one-offs til they have a good story arc in mind.

PS - My warning to my family worked.  My brother flew to FL to visit my mom yesterday...and he took her to the movies today, and they saw Little Women:)...

Don't worry, folks. Scott Mendelson is probably already writing his new reporting giving this drop a positive spin!

“It’s several percentage points better than TLJ (65% vs 70%) with the pure numbers also being much better. TROS is in a great position to outgross TLJ at this rate.”

Agree, I went in without even seeing a trailer and was taken by surprise on how good it is.

I wonder if the story is inspired at all by Franzese's confessions.

I had no idea about it. I remember AMC marketing theirs all over the place but I feel like Regal didn’t do that? I mean I just saw it cause I happened to go to a Regal theater lol

I saw no marketing for it either. I read about it online in an article on either The Hollywood Reporter, Variety, or Deadline. I forget which one of the three websites, but if I didn't read that article, I would not have known about it either.

Shoulda just got Rian Johnson back in again. JJ can start franchises, but has no idea how to satisfyingly follow through with anything. It was the same with Star Trek.

Rian Johnson should do Star Trek 5 after Hawley tanks the next one
