Not a rerelease, an expansion (with additional footage. You cannot rerelease a movie when it never left the theatres. 

 

Also Endgame had already beaten Avatar’s original run even before its expansion. The expansion helped beat Avatar’s rerelease numbers.

Nope that's called expansion as it never left theatres. Besides Avatar had 2 expansions and two official re-releases and numerous others for that extra $75mn it did, which EG crossed in initial run without expansion.

Endgame needed all the help to beat avatar. It needs all the help it can get before JC rereleases Avatar to surpass Endgame and rightfully so.  So keep the 3 mil. Endgame needs it bad.

Adding extra footage ain't expansion. It was making peanuts before rerelease. Even after 10 years it needed extra footage and a rerelease to beat Avatar. Anyway it was termed a rerelease.
