NEW YEAR WEEKDAYS THREAD: New Year Day Final Trend P 26. Happy New Year.

Recommended Posts

I just thought everyone here might find this amusing. Went to the cinema today (New Years Day in Aus) with my fiancee, and thought I'd see Cats under the premise, "maybe it's so bad it's good?", besides who believes anything the critics say these days.

Cats was sold out. Both afternoon and evening shows.

I shit you not. Un-fuc%ing believable. So we saw Little Women instead, which was good. Now I really want to see Cats. Perhaps everyone had the same thought I did? Who knows. I just thought you guys n gals would really appreciate that little tidbit. It felt like I was in the twilight zone.

I have JUM within 8m of TROS and feel have been a little optimistic on JUM.

Maybe it can reduce that to 5-6m but can't see them closer.

What are you projecting for it? He's giving it $47M, which is on the absolute high end possibility from what I can tell. Looking at the 2013 calendar, these were the weekend results compared to Monday, December 30th:

Frozen = $19.6M/$7.9M = 2.5x

Hobbit 2 = $15.7M/$6.5M = 2.4x

American Hustle = $12.4M/$4M = 3.1x

Anchorman 2 = $10.6M/$4.4M = 2.4x

Mr. Banks = $8.7M/$2.9M = 3x

The average of the 5 movies is about 2.7x on the Monday number. This would deliver $41M weekend for Skywalker after $15.2M on Monday. Low end at 2.4x would be $36.5M and high end at 3.1x would be $47M.

It has not kept with Hobbit2 at all. 2-2.1x 30-32 imo.

And that's wrong. Production cost was at least 400 million. Deadline is wrong about basically everything.

No it’s not. It’s not just a Deadline guess.

That $400m comment 😂, That’s just plain incorrect lol.

Happy New Year everyone!! Hope you guys are having a better day.

There are massive floods in several areas of my city today. Followed by a power outage. So me and my parents are evacuating to my sister's apartment, that is unaffected. So yeah, what a way to start this new year, huh? 😅
