Hysterical is losing money like Justice League or BVS. Big disappointment though.

BvS didn't lose money though. It was a pretty big underperformance just like with TROS (although I would say TROS's underperformance is worse). TROS should end up making the same amount in profits as BvS.

If BvS lost money then 95% of the movies released lose money.

Anything under Rogue One is straight up hysterical and that is locked to happen. There is nothing boring about this.

Ehhh...this run is pretty boring. Maybe it gives better perspective on the Rogue One performance. Outside of that, the most interesting thing we have on this run is the idiotic analysis from major box office reporters.

We get this every time a big movie releases.

BVS maybe broke even. Never seen a bigger advertising push. It was insane everywhere. It's a movie that done right does 2B and didn't even sniff 1B

Justice League lost gobs of money. Either way all of them were big disappointments just to a different degree. Star wars barely squeaking 1B is not impressive. It's sad

22*4 looks more likely. January is pretty much dead for good family movies. (Dr. Do little is flop already)

Nah.  TROS is going to do at least $150m more WW with a significantly larger US portion (and with 65% back to the studio) and a significantly lower China portion -  and the budgets aren't that far apart.

The irony in comparing TROS to BvS is that had TROS had a March release date, it’s gross would actually be closer to BvS than one would think.

Nah. It would have opened higher, likely in 200 range.

Movies in Christmas have soft opening.

Star Wars EP 7 would have opened above 300m if it was Summer release.

Definitely agree. BVS probably wouldn't be near the failure had it been released at Christmas.

Yep and TROS gets 65% of it's DOM gross right? So it's definitly more profitable.

Yep. Star wars makes money. At best BVS was flat. Way more money in China (21-23%) and 170m less domestically with a smaller cut. Starwars nets out quite a bit more.

I said a similar gross. Not the exact gross. BvS did $874M WW. TROS would have probably done around $900M or so without the holidays saving its legs.

Overseas maybe.

But Domestic,

200*2.5=500m

Same as in Christmas.

People make big deal about Christmas legs forgetting that Weekends are much heavier in other mnths.
