lilmac
With 2019 behind us, what were the most underrated films? Movies that didn't get the attention, love or boxoffice success that they deserved.
MOVIEGUY
Arctic. Best movie of the year that I haven't heard anyone talk about.
Maxmoser3
Still need to catch up from last year’s movies. But Shaft was actually lots of fun, it was hated by critics and bombed. The humor worked perfectly and loved the action scenes. The main three actors did a good job.

filmlover
Gloria Bell. An effective character study with one of Julianne Moore's very best performances. Should've received a lot more attention than it did. Edited February 1, 2020 by filmlover
Cap
Blinded By The Light was probably my favorite movie of the year.

Ethan Hunt
Dora and the Lost City of Gold comes to mind. I suppose Frozen 2 as well
Ipickthiswhiterose
Long Shot was far better than it had any right to be, it's a shame Seth Rogen seems to have turned into a bit of box office poison - I mean, I understand it, but it was a shame in this case. Arctic has already been mentioned here. Excellent film. Booksmart is an obvious choice, but it's also a correct one. Just Mercy was really overlooked because I think people were reading it as a race relations film, rather than an anti-death penalty film. As a socio-political film with a watertight argument against the death penalty I though it was outstanding. DAJK
Long Shot and Booksmart. Yea, people on these boards talk about Booksmart a lot, but nobody "irl" has seen it. It should be up there with Superbad as a classic teen comedy. Long Shot is just fantastic as well. And honestly I think Rocketman is way better than some people give it credit for. Such a great approach to the story, probably one of my favourite biopics ever.

lorddemaxus
Her Smell easily. Elisabeth Moss gave the best performance of the year but I guess awards voters were too busy circlejerking over Zellweger's performance in Judy.
