I was about to joke that Phillips is now a best director nominee and Christopher Nolan isn't, but of course Nolan did get nominated for Dunkirk.

eh he didn't get a dga nomination but he was getting nominations he was always in the running. HUGE surprise is for someone totally out of left field. nowhere on the level of the cold war guy getting nominated last year.
