fun in a way: as he lived there they know him in a way. Probably the main reason he got that low % of votes there.

The Finnish capital might get closed down too, army is already there, they debating it I think at Monday

Russia closes its borders at Monday too, just in case no one posted that already, I am still trying to back-read here and elsewhere

Point is in Finland no one questions that the Prime Minister is acting out of what she thinks is a necessity.

I the US,you have to question everything that Trump does; I just find it hard to beleive that it's a coincidence that Trump is doing this just after a series of arguments with the Governor of New York.

In all earnesty, it could have kind of holes that allows the attchment of exchangeable filters. My wood-workshop-mask has those, it is the same principle

Btw, mine (I own a small private wood-workshop) looks like a mix between Bane in Batman in some Alien in a Sci-Fi movie. The only reason I do not already use it for grocery shopping is I think I might fright children. Or eldery, I think some of them are even less used to ‚alien‘ appearances. We have not really Halloween here in my region.... (the young ones start with that)

Only added it as a kind of information, there are worlds between her and him. So big a gap, I not even considered someone might think there is a similarity.

As I actually do remember the articles about and statements of him out of the ‘80 I question every motivation since a long time. Friends say I am an elephant if its about long time memory (and grudges, if it is about something really serious, see human rights and such)

I am incredibly pessimistic about Democrats chance as Bernie is doing all he can to destroy the party. That said his approval rating for the crisis is pretty mediocre at the start. If things go bad it will get into the low 30s. If the recession is worse than projection he's a lock to lose

Say whaterver you want but i think Bernie was the only chance for America to survive that mess. And congratulations you blew it.

Question, did all Ukrainians manage to leave Poland or are they still waiting at the borders? Saw a disturbing picture about it, but no update

It would be disgusting but perhaps not surprising if the US came out of this crisis and still didn't adopt Medicare for All or another form of universal health care.

The World Health Organization's response after the 31 jan US ban on travels from China was: "these is no need for measures that unnecessarily interfere with international travel and trade” and "don't spread fear and stigma with travel bans".. and now the people that are calling Trump's incompetence in handling the crisis are the same who were calling him "racist" over the travel bans in early february. Oh, the hypocrisy.

Trump cried wolf by trying to impose travel restrictions when they weren't necessary.

So what happens when there's an actual wolf? Travel restrictions aren't taken seriously.

Add in the fact that the origin of the Spanish flu and the The Plague originated in China as well lends some bitterness

Y'all think everything is racist. You use it like water

WHO should be defunded and punished.

They knew there was a pandemic and said to keep flights out of China going.

So a Chinese could not go to Macau, the Great Wall or a movie, all shut down, but they could go to Vegas, the Roman Colluseum  or Japanese Cinema.

Trump wanted to shut down flighrs early and was called... guess... yes.. he was called .....water

His approval is the highest ever.

Impeachment is a wet dream

He will be re-elected.

"The 1918 influenza pandemic was the most severe pandemic in recent history. It was caused by an H1N1 virus with genes of avian origin. Although there is not universal consensus regarding where the virus originated, it spread worldwide during 1918-1919."

"While it's unlikely that the “Spanish Flu” originated in Spain, scientists are still unsure of its source. France, China and Britain have all been suggested as the potential birthplace of the virus, as has the United States, where the first known case was reported at a military base in Kansas on March 11, 1918."

I had zero interest in US politics then but I already liked movies a lot; so my first contact with Trump was Gremlins2. One of my all-time favourite movies btw ...

@IndustriousAngel see Tyrol, did you get the story about the 22y female Tcheck (?? = I mean a Tschechin) who is under quarantine, her ignoring that, going for a mountain walk up to 2300m high, where she gets lost, phones for help....

Usually the mountain rescue comes, but in this case: helicopter of the Ministry for Home Affairs flies in, takes her out on a ROPE (nono, no viruses 🦠 on board of the helicopter), takes her down into the valley and fines her... My brain makes a movie scene out of that, like big bad machine gun military helicopter arriving....

at that time he was very much not involved with politics, the articles are about how he and his dad ignored lots of laws systematically, ignored court orders (his poor tenants), and how racists he behaved in Las Vegas, up to an open letter of the casino manager of the casino he owned (and even before that). As in how he ordered to fire an accountant for being Jewish without cause and worse

I only saw the first part with 2 or 3 of my nephews, I was in the ‘80++ the designated driver for certain nephews for most of their cinema trips

He imposed some travel restrictions on foreigners but allowed americans to travel back and forth to infected areas with no testing.

China sucked both early and now but the rest of the world knew how serious this could become in January.

Trying to blame China for our troubles now is just trying to avoid to take responsibility for our own inaction.

Hell... there are plenty of states/people in the USA that still are minimizing the dangers. Are you going to blame China when it gets bad there?

yep, what an idiot ... but not the only one; a lot of people crawling around (nothing against that as long as you stay safe and keep your distance I say but in Tyrol we have a strict quarantine; basically you shouldn't leave your home except for "short walks" or work or grocery shopping of course).

Weather was quite beautiful for some time now (getting colder again now) and people had nothing to do and in Tyrol, outdoor activities are commonplace  - biking (road / MTB / downhill), climbing, walking, skiing, paragliding ... I myself am a runner. So it's very very hard for us to stay at home even under normal cirumstances; when it's as beautiful as now AND many people have no work, you can imagine what happens ...

They are going to move on and blame New York (as well as China). See the awful governor of Florida who wants to quarantine New Yorkers and block drivers from Louisiana but still hasn't shut down his own state. When the death toll really gets scary, he will pretend that the coronavirus outbreaks were caused by New York and not all those cruise ships, entertainment parks and Spring Break bars he kept open as long as possible.

Hate is Trump's stock in trade.

China is not a "villain". Asia is a wonderful continent filled with diverse topography and cultures. It's just a very inadequate government system for accurate information as to protect the safety of their citizens. As the old adage goes, "Pride before the fall." I can't find a more applicable term for a country that bans the broadcast of the Oscars when they include a documentary that sheds light on some of their corruption.
