At a time when the United States need to unite.GOP politicans are dividing us.

Red States are trying to close borders to people from Blue States.

Civil War 2, here we come.

Imagine if the left controlled to executive branch and was locking horns with red states over the lack of lock downs.

It is too late to quarantine New York now especially when you want to re-open US economy in two weeks.

It's never too late for anything. Maybe one week from now the number of cases will be in the millions and people will be saying: "why didn't we took more drastic measures one week ago when we had only 100-200k cases".

It appears the prognosis for patients put on ventilators is that 50% of them will die.

What kind of doctor ist that?

Even if it's only every second person who survives, isn't that worth every try?

Horrific, NY alone is already between France and the UK in 'New Deaths' today.

In a just world, Trump and quite a few other world leaders would go to jail. Compared to what could have been done, this level of negligence is a crime against humanity.

The level of negligence coming from so many world-leaders went on to create a perfect storm. Starting with Xi, then Tedros and then all first-world leaders refusing to take measures..

I think it’s more like 30% succumb after being intubated. Definitely the majority are still able to pull through.

TIL Bernie supporters are worse than literal racists. Amd you're the one who sounds angry whenever Bernie is mentioned like he personally attacked you. There's like no need to be so aggressive, calm down.

Lmao you must be the angriest person on this board. Constantly arguing and crying with others. Fine you win 😊. Bernie is amazing and would be great. Now in regards to covid our current response while response is still horrible in Florida. New York needs a lot more help.

No, it is literally too late when you have more infections outside New York than inside. China didn't just quarantine Hubei, they quarantined practically the entire country. There are governors in United States who aren't even locking down their states. There is no piecemeal approach in a pandemic.

I guess some of those that survive would have survived anyway.

The appears that the ventilators are really not helping that much, they are more symbolic than anything.

IT sounded really strange, I imagine it is talking about a subset (co-morbid overweight male over 70 or something like that) ?

Because yes the survival rate for the under 50 (76% among people with an outcome) leave little doubt that it is an interesting option

It'll happen before then. 260 two days ago, 400 yesterday and over 500 today. It stands at 515 presently and it is only 8pm EDT. We'll hit 1k deaths on Tuesday, if not on Monday. It seems to be doubling every couple of days or so. Just terrible

Quarantining New York now would be as useful as Trump banning travel from China or Europe then sitting on his ass for two months: it would accomplish nothing.

Do you have something against ventilators? You keep bringing this up.

It is the last hope for patients in critical condition so obviously the success rate won't be great. The alternative, for now, is to let them die.

That governor from Florida needs to be charged. What he's doing is blatant criminal behavior...refusing to listen to reason and endangering the lives of countless thousands of people. The man literally has blood on his hands.

This is absolutely not true. If you’re getting intubated, it means you literally can’t breathe on your own. These machines are worth their weight in gold right now, they’re not wasting them on anything symbolic.
