Lets not begin even looking at Vietnam.... thinking they have a positive handle the virus is as funny as those assuming massive increases in legit Chinese numbers.... 🤦‍♂️

Leaving the above for reference - misread the report and for some reason crossed Vietnam with North Korea in my mind. I do grasp that Vietnam is vastly different, error was not intended. Apologies for not catching sooner - thanks to those who pointed it out :)

Let's compare the USA to Vietnam (a third world country with very limited resources, a poor-funded healthcare system, and is right next to China with an economy heavily relied on China) to see how great America is doing.

Vietnam tries to save its people first then the economy later.

Whereas in the US, some people are perfectly fine with sacrificing their grandparents for money. All the time spending on saving the economy instead of trying to help frontline hospitals and worse - accused them of stealing medical supplies why they're risking their lives to save others.

Perhaps if they paid more attention to their economy they wouldn't be dying in the back of lorries trying to get to England.

Perhaps I should give you break because you are not in the USA (although you are good at explaining the USA to us) but "Are they going out the back"

door" is an euphemism for employees stealing their employers goods.

Naw... no break for you.  You are just a Trump apologist who will Trumpsplain anything he says

KEY POINTS
  • AMC’s CEO hopes that locations will be able to open by mid-June.
  • Adam Aron, CEO of AMC Entertainment, admits that it is unclear exactly when the movie theater industry will be back on its feet in the wake of the coronavirus, but he’s certain moviegoers will be eager to return to cinemas.
  • Because of theater closures across the country and internationally, studios have been vacating their release dates through June and July.

And they will close again in October or November, since a second wave seem almost a lock to happen; Dr. Fauci just issued a warning about that.

Vietnam is also a dictatorship...they can do things free countries really cannot.

tually it was New York Gov. Cuomo that did that first. He accused people of stealing masks and other medical equipment from hospitals:

Yes... when the panic started people, not employees, were stealing masks and sanitizer, gloves from hospitals and clinics.   I'm sure more that a few employees did also.  That's why they are locked up everywhere.

That is different then Trump accusing employees  of currently stealing supplies.

Badly failing at testing and tracing, and putting more value in the stock market than human life, aren't supposed to be characteristics of a democracy.

Well, in some good news, social distancing and some counties with shelter in place orders seems to be working in Utah. We have a “stay home, stay safe” directive statewide, but no statewide shelter in place order yet. 3 counties have orders.

First column is new cases/new tests conducted.

Second column is total confirmed cases/total tests conducted.

March 20: 36/621(5.8%)   112/2147(5.2%)

March 21: 24/413(5.8%)   136/2560(5.3%)

March 22: 45/1129(4%)    181/3689(4.9%)

March 23: 76/1358(5.6%) 257/5047(5.1%)

March 24: 42/776(5.4%)   299/5823(5.1%)

March 25: 47/1014(4.6%)  346/6837(5.1%)

March 26: 56/873(6.4%)   402/7710(5.2%)

March 27: 78/1534(5.1%)  480/9244(5.2%)

March 28: 122/2068(5.9%) 602/11312(5.3%)

March 29: 117/2681(4.4%)  719/13993(5.1%)

March 30: 87/2010(4.3%)   806/16003(5.0%)

March 31: 81/2510(3.2%)   887/18513(4.8%)

Unfortunately, 73 people are hospitalized, and 5 people have died.

And we are nowhere near conquering it. The Governor said they estimate that there could be 5.5 unconfirmed cases per confirmed case which means there could be 4900 unknown people with COVID-19 out there(which is why staying at home and social distancing is so important). Our current goal is 18-26 weeks from March 16th to enter the “recovery phase” where things start to normalize. This gives me hope that we are flattening the curve and will reach that goal.

Wouldn't be surprised if the after party of this thing kills more than Coronavirus itself. The older generation will definitely owe a big thank you to the younglins too after this. When you think about it the entire world is on lockdown to protect the elderly. They best be grateful

For now some countries are badly short on masks and therefore have to ration them with priority given to health care professionals, but I can see their use getting more and more accepted in the world like they already have been for some time in Asia. I thought it was a no-brainer to use masks as a way to fight the coronavirus, and it seems the idea is becoming ever more popular:

Quote

Calls are growing in Germany for the government to implement mandatory wearing of a face mask to help counter the spread of Covid-19.

After Austria ordered shoppers to cover their mouths and noses in supermarkets, increasing numbers of regional officials in neighbouring Germany are urging the federal government to introduce a similar rule. The Czech Republic and Slovakia have also just made masks mandatory.

But interestingly, the WHO isn't convinced:

Quote

The World Health Organization has however sounded a note of warning, saying that the wearing of masks by anyone other than at-risk groups can pose more of an infection risk than not wearing them.

Michael Ryan, the head of its health emergencies programme, said this week that wearing a mask can provide a false sense of security and divert attention from hygiene measures, such as handwashing. Touching the outside of the mask can also make it less effective.

“We don’t generally recommend the wearing of masks in public by otherwise well individuals because it has not up to now been associated with any particular benefit,” Ryan said.

Still, it can't hurt as long as you keep doing all those other things. And you have to wonder if the relatively low numbers of deaths in a country like Japan (who don't really seem to be doing a great job against the pandemic otherwise) are not explained in a small part at least by the common use of masks.

New Zealand plan as published on the government website is pretty much the same as everybody else influenza pandemic plan, which are all based on the WHO general pandemic guidance plan.

They have special requirements due to their ethnic makeup of native Polynesians. These groups are especially at risk as they have little to no immunity to these viruses compared to the ethnic European citizens.

I mean, no one has immunity to this, that’s why it’s called a novel virus.
