Assuming it wins Best Picture next Sunday (which it likely will), 1917 would be the highest-grossing winner* since Return of the King 16 years ago.

* = not including the 30 seconds that La La Land was the Best Picture winner

I am rooting for Parasite upset, hope thousand of newly invited voters move Oscar further.

2008 remains the banner B.O. year as far as Super Bowl weekend goes with $128M propelled by Miley Cyrus Hannah Montana concert movie, which at $31M, remains the top opener for the frame.

lol I actually remember seeing that concert movie in theaters. Blew my 10 year old mind away.

The film will be on digital since Feb 7th. Such a pity move when the film is still holding very good

As with Frozen 1 and its DVD release, these things are planned long before and rarely are worth changing. Legs are never known until its too late. Frozen 1 definitely lost 5-10m with the early release and forced Disney to drag it to 400m.

Where did Parasite go?

They haven't been reporting for Friday in awhile. Will have to wait for the weekend estimate tomorrow.

Seems like strong Friday holds all around (which will be offset somewhat tomorrow). Guess the lack of any meaningful competition helps.

I'm surprised Doolittle is holding well. Guess the family market needed something since Spies in Disguise wasn't huge. This makes me feel like Sonic is gonna really breakout.

I'm desperate to see something this weekend so I may actually go see Dolittle with my Alist 😅
