Tracking admissions was never a priority in Indian box office. Nowdays, since majority of box office come from multiplexes where e-ticketing prevails, admission tracking is easier but still not absolute. All admits are mostly estimated numbers. e.g. Endgame admits;

France :

1966 La Grande Vadrouille - 17,317,745 admissions (Local Movie)

1998 : Titanic - 21,774,181 admissions

I don't think one day a movie will beat Titanic in France or maybe in 10 or 20 years but Titanic in 1998 was a really really a box office monster in France, people loved it so much they went to see it 2,3 or even 4 times
