There are maybe a hand full of actors that actually have the starpower to open movies decently big. And no person, not one has the star power to open a $200m budget movie and be mostly sertain it will make a profit. And we have only 2 directors that could do this so it's strange we are still thinking that actors would make a few 100m dollars diff in revenue.

True, but if he continues to star in flops - box office and critically- people will notice. DiCaprio movies make bank because he stars in good movies with acclaimed directors. If Holland's movies are crap and flops, he will not get offered any quality material in the future.

True, also Dicaprio is one of the last real movie stars (combined with picking good movies). Still it's just dumb for studio's to think that a uninteresting movie, badly made will be saved by movie stars. Look at Will smith, he has some flops and is one of the biggest names in the game, he's a great actor and no way those movies could be saved by any other actor.

it seems to me that Holland is scared to take something outside of his comfort zone (franchises and anything that sounds commercial). Leo is where he is because he didn't try to play teen hearthrobes forever but shifted gears shortly after Titanic. Holland is still trying to play for audience that crosses over with MCU.

Holland career is only because of Spiderman. 

Good or bad Chris Evans, Scarjo, Jeremy Renner, Brie Larson, Chadwick Boseman and Benedict Cumberbatch had career outside of Marvel. 

 

Chris Pratt and Tom Holland rose because of Marvel. 

Chris Pratt is already looking to become B level star after Jurrasic World 3 and Gotg3.
