The good news is the Irish board seem to have given Halloween Kills an 18. I’m hoping it’s a 15 for the UK box office.

Yeah it’ll definitely improve its prospects if it’s a 15, the only thing that makes me think it might not be is that it’s from the directors of Ready or Not which was a fairly hard 18 (not Halloween Kills “hard”, but still harder than 15). Oh yeh I forgot Ready or Not was an 18. I suppose Scream 4 is the only one that’s a 15, maybe the tone got it off the hook. Still can’t believe Scream 3 is an 18 lol.

Scream 3 being an 18 despite barely any blood and then Scream 4 being a 15 despite being arguably the goriest one definitely shows up the hypocrisy in the BBFC’s ratings system.

Times change I guess, I Know What You Did Last Summer was also an 18s, although oddly enough it’s video release was only 15.
Boxofficerules
I remember the Irish ratings boards used to get quite strange in their ratings descriptions, I wonder if a company complained that they aren’t supposed to be reviewing movies. Here are some classics http://www.ifco.ie/en/ifco/pages/D3998B1000523990 “Grotesque, special effects latex comedy gorefest - more schlock than horror, more camp than a row of tents.” http://www.ifco.ie/en/ifco/pages/F4D7E033003DBED7 “Extremely strong violence. Graphic detail of torture with attendant gore. Terrorisation throughout. Some viewers may find the content very unsavoury and without redeeming features.“ http://www.ifco.ie/en/ifco/pages/64DC3DAF005D2B7F “Extremely graphic and ludicrous scenes of violence and bloody mutilation. Scenes of moderate sexual nudity.”

Scream 4 was better than I thought it would be going in. I don't hate Scream 3 but it doesn't add up to a good movie. The original is my favorite in the slasher genre by quite some margin, though. Scream IV was great!
