Of the nine titles in the top 50, 40 percent are more than six months old. Without further data on who is watching, this level of placement suggests a large, diverse audience.

 

 

This is pretty interesting stuff.

Surprised Do The Right Thing isn't higher. Also, just remembered that The Help exists. Not sure why it doesn't get the same kind of crap Green Book gets considering that its Green Book for Karens.

I’ve seen The Help getting hate recently, I know Viola spoke out about wishing she hadn’t done it. But I think it’s a great film, very emotional with some fantastic (Oscar nominated and winning) performances. I’m sure Octavia said that she didn’t agree with Viola, at all.

It came out almost a decade ago when social media was still in its early days. Also a more fondly remembered movie than Green Book will probably ever be since individual parts of it have been referenced in pop culture over the years (the shit pie obviously but also "you is smart, you is kind, you is important"). Not sure how it would hold up if it were released in today's climate but there's room for different kinds of movies that tackle racism (as Green Book/BlacKkKlansman co-existing that year proved) so maybe it would still be a big hit regardless.

The Help, The Blind Side and movies like Remember the Titans look at racism in a very casual style...

 

 

However they have very entertaining and engaging movies as well to many and that's why they are popular. 

 

These are movies that I've watched many times with friends and family.

 

They look at racism in a flawed way but they're really fun movies

 

I'm certain if they released now they still be huge hits but likely get a lot more push back.
