Your personal liberty ends when you messin with others people life.

Denied to be vaccinated increases a lot the transmission of the virus, with that, we have more cases who are avoidable. With more cases, the virus have more chances of turn into another worse variant and then the whole country is fucked again.

I'm sorry for those who actually believe in this "i can do whatever i want" bullshit, everyone lives in a society and you can't do things that affect others badly, which include spreading virus.

The whole point of mass vaccination is not only personal protection, is lowering transmission to a point that avoids new waves and variants like we have right now so the society and economy don't need to deal with losses of people and money.

These passports are the mininum the government can do to press people to take their shots, they can do way worse if they want a for a good reason, human life are above personal choices and political visions.

America is struggling with the delta variant because so many of them don’t take the virus seriously and a lot are antivaxxers.

In the UK, we’ve had the delta variant for a few months now and two weekends ago, we had our biggest box office weekend since pre-pandemic.

Bob Chapek just called Eternals a 2022 movie.

Movie theaters are no longer profitable especially for big budget films. Severely front loaded then you're looking at a 70-80% drop the following week.

Not a good sign.

Can't believe USA has so many anti-vax supporter, this is unbelievable for me with all the resources they have.

Looking at some study, USA do not seem particularly high in that regard:

https://www.nature.com/articles/s41591-020-1124-9.pdf

Specially when talking hesitancy, Spain-France-Japan-Australia trumped the US until recently.

And there does not seem to have a positive link with lot of resource and less anti-vax, it seem to even be the other way around (that 2018 trust level of vaccine by region:)

Could be the longest a society had them, the less they remember the vaccine less world, Russia-ex Soviet block I imagine is just a complete untrust in everything official.

Yeah, no.

FY2022, not AD 2022.

Article from Den of Geek about the move of V2 and what it could mean for the fall. A fair bit of talk in here about SC and Eternals. SC is definitely coming out Sept 3 according to Disney. They see it as an experiment.

“On Shang-Chi, we actually think it’s going to be an interesting experiment for us,” Chapek said. “Because it’s got only a 45-day window for us. The prospect of being able to take a Marvel title to the service after going theatrical for 45 days will be yet another data point to inform our actions going forward on our titles.”

Well, he was on an investor call, so...

(though, then again, see my comment on another thread about knowing the audience - or in this case know who else is gonna listen to your comments)

It's also worth keeping in mind that movies are just one piece of the Disney entertainment empire, and not likely the most important piece to them, based on on revenues.

They had a very strong earnings report with it beating the estimates and having almost a billion dollar profit last quarter. D+ subs beat expectations as well passing 116M.

  • "In a summer marred by numerous DTC services posting softer than expected subscriber results, Disney has yet again bucked industry trends and beat expectations for Disney+ net adds (dare we say, creating a new "timeline" for the stock)," RBC says. "We see clear visibility for continued momentum for at least the next two quarters given a healthy pipeline of market launches and expansions."

Adding sentimentality to the products of mega corporations is funny.

That's all processed food products are to PepsiCo, now...a  "data point."  🤷‍♂️🙄

...Or is that all that QUAKER OATS is to them?

The unvaccinated will simply not go to restaurants and movies. No biggie. You shouldn’t force people to get vaccines (this is from someone who is a strong advocate for vaccinations). I’m speaking from the American perspective. Other countries can do what they want. Don’t really care. I’d rather we live with the pandemic than face a slippery slope:

It's just a mask

It's just a vaccine

It's just a few more months of lockdowns since the Trump supporters won't take it

It's just a card so you can prove you have the vaccine to get in places <----- WE ARE HERE

It's just a tracking device so we know who has the vaccine

It's just tracking poor behaviour like jaywalking or littering or rewarding people for shopping more at minority owned restaurants

It's just shutting down the most pollution heavy industries to get the climate change crisis under control

It's just a fine for driving too much and passing your pollution limit for the week.

It’s just a requirement for employment that you sign this letter affirming that diversity in all its…*cough*…forms is something to be cherished and celebrated

How to tell someone you're actually not for the vaccine without explicitly saying so.

Warped logic from start to finish. People like yourself will be the reason for America's eventual implosion.

Also, dogwhistling is allowed on this forum then? Heck, not even really dogwhistling, pretty obvious.

Round up the minorities and begin the ethnostate you so deeply crave. Fly the flag proud.

I agree with whoever above mentioned that it is almost impossible for a tentpole movie to make a profit in theaterical release right now. There are just not enough people willing to go see movies to really make that work.

Something like Respect is probably a hard one to pull a profit as it is really more of an older persons movie imo, and that demographic isn't really going to theaters. it's hard to see family movies doing well either.

The only movies right now that feel like they would make money are ones aimed at Late teens and young adults.

This is indirectly related, but the Consumer Confidence Index crashed last month, dropping 13.5%.

That is the 7th largest drop in the more than 50 year history of the index. One of the bigger drops was the 19% plunge in April 2020.

Now these can rebound quickly as well, but they give you an idea of the short term feeling of consumers.

CinemaCon let everyone know that the convention is happening as planned with a full confirmed schedule.  The only major change I see is that the opening party is now a pool party instead of inside at the Omnia.

  • Sony kicks off the event on Monday night.
  • MGM/UA present on Tuesday morning
  • Warner Bros. presents on Tuesday afternoon
  • Neon has a breakfast presentation on Wednesday
  • Disney screens Shang-Chi on Wednesday morning
  • Universal/Focus present on Wednesday afternoon
  • Paramount presents on Thursday morning
  • Lionsgate has the closing presentation on Thursday afternoon

Curious if MGM will confirm anything for NTTD
