Borobudur
The twilight resurgence lately may boost interest in female to see "Edward" vampire turning into batman. Good review certainly won't hurt.

Porthos
Am I actually seeing pushback on the idea that Tomato Law doesn't happen? What the hell happened to this board? ===== Look. It's not an infallible heuristic. And there are exceptions. But as a general rule.... OF FUCKING COURSE GOOD REVIEWS HELP THE BOX OFFICE!!!! Sometimes you can't lead the horse to water (The Suicide Squad) and sometimes there is active disagreement (The Last Jedi) and sometimes Genre Matters (Popcorn Flicks and Horror to name two). But generally speaking... Good to great reviews lead to a spike in ticket sales. After that then sure, it's down to WOM of the GA. As I've said before though, initial reviews are pretty much the transition point between pre-release buzz and actual post-release word of mouth. Call it the morning twilight period where it's transitioning from one stage to another. In a way, it's both buzz and word of mouth. And with more and more people getting RT badges, not to mention all of the other social media outlets out there that reach people, it really is the first tentative steps of the word of mouth. That being said, it is a very small percentage of the eventual word of mouth, and one even today that is titled to a certain type of movie viewer. Which is why the exceptions can happen, especially for certain types of movies. Either way, the main focus of this board is box office. And if we pay attention to buzz when trying to figure out how something might do at the box office, then it naturally follows we should pay more attention when we see the first stages of buzz being actually met with Real People. Doesn't mean that it's the final word. Doesn't mean it's even definitive. Is more info though. And fairly useful info at that. /gets off soap box

WittyUsername
I would consider anything less than $120-130 million OW a disappointment, so hopefully it does more than that.
iHeartJames
I wonder if the dreary tone and long runtime is gonna affect it in any way?
TrevorBelmont9078
Quite a few annoying "why do comicbook movies have to be dark and brooding" critics, as expected. But a very very solid start. Also, as predicted - The Batman absolutely blew up Twitter. WB's strategy was a great idea from the get-go. This kicks off the "Batman Week" - all everyone will hear about from tomorrow is The Batman, especially with fan screenings tomorrow, get ready to hear a lot of "This is better than TDK", an opinion I've surprisingly heard from people I actually trust. Which is re-assuring. Regardless of any of that, I'm pretty sure the walk-ups for The BATMAN are going to be solid. Just now, iHeartJames said: I wonder if the dreary tone and long runtime is gonna affect it in any way? The general audience GETS that Batman is a darker character. WB and DC would rather do it like this than go anywhere near Batman Forever again. So if that makes a few hundred people unhappy, so be it. As for the runtime, heard several people say that it feels like a 2 hour film because it keeps you engaged at all times. So we'll see.
