I don't know what Sony was thinking putting Morbius the week before this comes out.

This is what happens when studio execs prioritizing worrying about yearly spreadsheets (that might tie conveniently into bonuses.) "Oh sure this might've killed in a barren January but we could make less money in a few months so our 2022 will look better to our bosses in Japan!"

Hollywood thinking is sure something.

The first one was a hit, i doubt this second one can match its performance. We are in a pandemic and families with kids are not back.

Idk, maybe if it's a significant improvement over the first one then it might draw more people in. Them adding in Tails and Knuckles was a smart move and may bring in some more fans. I think it'll do at least on par of what the first movie did box office wise.

Sonic is IP. That’s the main benefit it has a family film in a post pandemic box office.

Recognition didn't help Boss Baby 2 much. It still topped out at around the $150 million range like pretty much every animated movie this year.

If this virus never existed, then this could've broken out Dark Knight-style. Of course, theatrical family films are pretty much on their deathbed now, so this movie and Lightyear are both big wildcards.

I really hope this movie does work out. I would love to see what their take on Shadow might be.
