Thanks for finding this - and wanted to highlight this point...we're at about 15% of theaters open by this coming weekend...we're getting there for Tenet...(and total BO for this past weekend was about $2Mish DOM)...

"There were around 600 theaters (out of the nation’s 5K) open over the May 29-31 frame (which was originally set to see Disney’s Artemis Fowl, which fled to the streaming service), and 728 theaters are expected to be back online this Friday...

Out of the 600 locations that were open last weekend, 55% were hardtop locations, while Drive-Ins repped 45% of that count."

Are these numbers good considering the limited number of theaters? Can someone analyse what these numbers means?

I doubt Jumanji made 5.8 mil and BB4L made 2.7 mil since when Sony stopped reporting numbers.

I dunno...South Dakotans had to watch something.  Maybe now we know the size of their movie going market, when there's nothing new to see...

How could it have made that much if Trolls 2 made 2.6 mil and was number 1 since its release? It's impossible for it to have made 5.8 mil.

Considering these are all drive-ins and most of these movies could be easily watched from home since late March, they're decent. It's what the box office will look like when indoor locations (and new movies) start to come back that all eyes will be on.

only 45% of them were drive-ins for that most recent weekend.

so that's for every film, nothing for Jumanji alone.

Right...and there were a few other states that did not close theaters, but those are harder to pull out.  7 total states did not have shutdowns of everything...and a few of those also did not shut theaters...but I'd have to go into each state's list of dos and don'ts to find whats and whens...

You figure, border theaters probably served their state and the one next door...

But, thing is, the theaters that would have stayed open would be small independents who probably only showed 1-3 movies...so all the money could have gone to the winter biggies for the whole period...

AKA - I'm not as certain as others that the "cumulative Mar-May" numbers have to be an error...it could have happened...
