Ezra Miller's gotten himself in a pretty controversial spot right now, if it is what it looks like. Wonder if WB will recast or not, especially if there are charges pressed.

This news is two days old and the media has been pretty quiet about it which is odd. I guess it's because of the pandemic. Don't think much will happen here unless he gets charged. Right now I'd say it's as likely to affect his superhero career as much as Amber Heard thing or the Jeremy Renner thing (not much).

Edit: Even TMZ doesn't seem to have an article on this and that's really weird.

I agree that I don't think much will happen, so many actors/actresses have controversies these days it all just becomes noise, for better or worse. And to think everybody loved his cameo on The Flash tv series a few months ago and now this. These really are some weird times.

It’s never ok to put your hands on anyone so if this is the whole video then he deserves to be charged and I would replace him in the movie if it was me.

I would like to know if this is full video though cause I hope we aren’t in another situation like the Jason Momoa “inappropriately touched his daughter” video here that’s edited to just make someone look bad without proper context.

According to some alleged sources close to Variety, the thing was the culmination of an incident at a bar where Ezra Miller was confronted by some “pushy fans”, and it ended with him being escorted off the premises.

doesn't get JK Rowling get cancelled every day on twitter and she's gonna write the rest of her franchise?

Ezra will be fine I'd bet (whenever this movie happens people would've forgotten about this incident), WB are more okay with this than Disney

This comment will possibly get deleted, but I’m just going to say that I don’t really think he should lose his career over this. Assaulting a fan for heckling him is obviously a bad look, but I don’t like the idea of someone being blacklisted over it, especially when other celebrities have been involved in similar incidents, and still have careers.

Hell, Alec Baldwin assaulted a man less than two years ago, and people have pretty much forgotten about it now.

If WB kept Johnny Depp in the Fantastic Beasts series after what he did to Amber Heard, I don't think they would recast Ezra Miller because of this.

Well they kept America Heard in Aquaman after what she did to Johnny Depp.

Kiddin aside, we don’t know the situation in either cased and all we can do is joke. But have to say....

Is this movie and New Mutants in some secret competition for the most unfortunate production? Jeez...

No one should lose a career over anything like this unless it extends past an isolated incident and they are objectively dangerous to people around them.

I agree, and this is precisely why I despise Twitter with every ounce of my being. Every time someone mildly famous gets involved in anything controversial, no matter how big or small, there’s always a hive mind on that hellhole of a website that pushes this “#CANCELED” narrative. It just pisses me off to no end. The world would be a significantly better place right now if Twitter didn’t exist.

New Mutants apparently wasn't even a troubled production as Disney and the director think the movie is ready to be released without the reshoots that Fox planned. It could have perfectly been released in its original release date. The whole moving around wasn't necessary. The Flash seems more like a Gambit situation.

Would it be going too far to suggest that this whole thing wouldn’t be generating as much attention if the person being choked was a man? I’m not trying to be facetious here. I genuinely want to know if people would agree that this situation would be less controversial if it were a man being choked.

Of course it would be different. A woman doesn't have the strength of a man to fight back. If it were a man, maybe Ezra would have received a punch in the face and the man wouldn't be hurt. But this was a woman so yes, it deserves more condemning
