some mixed reviews out there for sure. i'm sure it's a misunderstood masterpiece but hey they can't all be best picture winners like ad astra was.

just read an interview in NYT with vincent lindon (president of cannes jury this year) where he said he was a big Gray fan. so hopefully he grabs a prize there even if the mainstream awards don't go for it. even at film festivals gray usually doesn't win shit.

Sounds like another coming-of-age film where I'm more interested in the political stuff happening in the background i.e. the protests in Roma.

Despite this coming second on Screen Daily's critics poll only behind Decision to Leave this went home empty handed at Cannes. Sad! Boycotting all filmmakers on the jury from now on.

According to Vanity Fair writer David Canfield, this was heavily recut after the Cannes screening. Hopefully it's still good like Ad Astra (which also had a complicated post-production).
