Starting with India, there are two films which have crossed $200mn worldwide; Dangal and Baahubali: The Conclusion.

 

I usually report Indian films in China without taking the ticket booking charges, but for the purpose of this thread, I will be using the reported gross. Following are $100 million worldwide grossers from India.

  1. Dangal: $306.09 million
  2. Baahubali: The Conclusion: $271.67 million
  3. Bajrangi Bhaijaan: $141.67 million
  4. Secret Superstar: $139.91 million
  5. P.K.: $120.45 million
  6. Sholay (1975): $117 million Approx

Moving to Japan, I have so far compiled two of the biggest films, will do others soon. Spirited Away $396 million Approx and Your Name $380 million Approx. There are 3-5 other $200 million grossers as well.

But are you sure about Spirited Away over Your Name? Counting also the recent China's gross it's at $350 million, maybe there are some errors in the counts or in the currency exchange?

Yes. The list has taken numbers from Mojo, where numbers aren't fully updated.

South Korea: $13.2 million

Taiwan: $4.8 million

Vietnam: $1.15mn (not sure of these are weekend #s or pre-sales)

Malaysia: $0.85mn Approx

Singapore: $0.65mn Approx

 

Total: $20.65mn 

Admits: 3.2mn

Peninsula, Yeon Sang-ho’s follow-up to his 2016 hit Train To Busan, continues to demonstrate audience hunger for new blood, particularly such an anticipated sequel. It did a confirmed $13.2M in Korea. It set a 2020 opening day high on Wednesday, and through Sunday overtook another recent Korean breakout, #Alive, which has now cumed $13M there. In Taiwan, Peninsula grossed $4.7M with 76% market share and approximately 2,300~2,400 shows per day. Vietnam, where the movie was in sneaks, did $1.17M, the best debut ever for a Korean title. Malaysia, which opened Peninsula on Thursday, added $955K; and Singapore took in $795K to best Train To Busan‘s launch weekend (doing so on Saturday)

Outside Korea is pretty great. In markets released as Train To Busan did $29.5mn, while Peninsula is running at $26mn.
