french box office in 2020

https://variety.com/2020/film/global/cnc-comscore-box-office-france-1234876600/

Quote

Cinema admissions in France, Europe’s biggest movie market, plunged 70% in 2020, compared with 2019, decimated by COVID-19, which saw French cinemas shutter for 176 days this year, France’s National Film Board (CNC) announced on Wednesday.

Total ticket sales came in at 65.1 million, according to the CNC, 65.2 million according to Comscore, which valued that trawl at €450 million ($549 million) in gross box office. Given that France saw 213 million admissions and total box office earnings of $1.62 billion in 2019, according to European Audiovisual Observatory estimates, 2020 results saw the market lose more than $1 billion in cinema ticket sales.

Going to get pretty close to #1 even just WW-C. As long as some form of China release happens, that will seal it.

Japan will at most add another $15M or so. Korea I am not checking, another $3.5M? Australia and NZ no idea but perhaps $5M in all these fiddle markets.

Don't think it will be close without China. Will need China release.

Current markets won’t get that close, but still to open in some Europe, AUS/NZ, US/CAN, maybe some Latin America markets, etc. I think that can be a lot more than 5M.

Was just looking at Broly DOM, lol. I remembering being really shocked by that when it happened.

I don’t really have a good handle on the size of the Demon Slayer fandom in various countries, but like 5-10M is DOM seems plausible? Maybe 5-10M AUS+Eur? Thinking 20 in current markets gets around 430 before Latam (which is indeed still pretty COVID depressed, so 🤷‍♂️).

Very nice. Got another $20M from Japan itself, holding better than I expected SK, seems set to leg well in AUS/NZ. I think we will get over 800 (450M, iirc?) with just WW-C

Yeah probably $15-20M in Japan.

Korea another $1.5M may be.

ANZ another $3M may be.

About $20-25M in current markets, at higher end will leave $22M approx behind 800.
