Wish I’m Thinking of Ending Things had been a theatrical release so we coulda seen that F cinemascore.

Which kind of sums up what I’m saying about general audiences that go to the movies today.  The 1970’s this ain’t. Familiarity or bust. Lol

Tenet

9/2

MTC1 - 11160/140132 147K (770 shows)

MTC2 - 11306/153536 136K (1146 shows)

9/3

MTC1 - 12118/284520  150K (1791 shows)

MTC2 - 6960/282109  75K (2058 shows)

9/4

MTC1 - 11123/492410 140K (3099 shows)

MTC2 - 7506/358437 84K (2412 shows)

Tenet dropped another 30% yesterday. When I checked for today in the morning MTC1 is up quite a bit and there are tons more shows than what we saw for early screenings. Let us see how walk ups are. Friday show count has expanded as well.

FROM CHARLIE:

Since you didn't update afterwards, not entirely sure what to make of these, but gonna try.

US Only
Monday-Wednesday: $3mn

Thursday: $1.1-1.3mn

Friday: $3.5-4mn

So around $4.6-5.3mn opening day in USA + $0.3mn Approx Canada giving $4.9-5.6mn OD.

My exact shot will be $5.1mn Friday in NA. Weekend $13.5mn weekend.

Looks like WB won't be releasing the numbers until tomorrow. Probably just to avoid early hyperbolic proclamations of movies being doomed post-COVID (and likely also to avoid any potential negative press for as long as possible).

That seems to be the logic that’s driving the Disney and Warner Bros. strategies to provide virtually no performance data for these two major releases. As a PVOD title, there’s no guarantee of any “Mulan” results. Warner Bros. does plan to provide a “Tenet” number, singular: One total, on Sunday, that accounts for 12 days’ release in Canada and August 31 – September 6 in the U.S.

Hopefully, for the weekend contest, they eventually release the daily Fri-Sat-Sun figures:)...

That's dumb.

The New Mutants will barely make $15M in total. Hilariously terrible, and it probably wouldn't have done much better even in normal circumstances. Emma. might've ended up making more to become the highest-grossing Anya Taylor-Joy movie (or second, if the Edgar Wright movie didn't move to next year) of 2020 if its run hadn't been cut short.

Keep in mind these are just guesses from using a few chains. These are not actuals from the studio, so actuals could be close or way off.
