Saw the trailer on Mortal Kombat when i was watching GvK to realize they are only set 2 weeks apart in terms of release date.

Why is WB putting their releases so close to each other when there is hardly any competition out there.. Should have spaced them out wider to prevent legs getting cut.

Mortal Kombat is DoA, right?

The original film was considered cult classic for many of us here in Southeast Asia...

It might do okay here to be honest, but as you know the issue for movie releases now is the capacity constraint, so having another relatively big budget film releasing in theaters on 7th April across many parts of Asia.. does not help GvK in terms of screencount / showtime losses especially noting the limited capacity for each screening.

Outside of SE Asia, in terms of China, Mortal Kombat is pretty much DoA imo - i am not aware of any strong following of MK in China, it is a bit like Power Rangers' popularity there IMO.

China's own martial arts films by Jackie Chan / Jet Li / Donnie Yen makes up peoples' childhood there...

Till Thurs - $164M

2nd Friday - $17M

2nd Saturday - $26M

Total - $207M

18 on sun will give it 225 total after 61 2nd weekend. 2x more the 2nd weekend will give it close to 350 os. very sweet under the circumstances. if it further over-performs os then keeps 500 ww alive no unless dom has bad legs?

My current expectations more like 22 on Sun for 230 cume/65 weekend. China will add maybe 53. OS-C opened markets conservatively perhaps 37, and BR+J maybe 30, for 120 more/350 total. DOM legs are a bit hard to say, low 100s best guess. Probably 450-500 range?

Unclear what new markets it might staggered add in Europe vs going straight PVOD though.

China will probably remain flat or increase. Same other East Asian market due to Monday being holiday. Thats $20m.

In most Asian markets it will add just this weekend in rest of its run so 2x tough.
