elcaballero
Gotta love seeing those small drops across the board this weekend. I've heard anecdotal excitement about returning to theaters, regardless of what movies are playing.
OdinSon2k14
How is this Theater/Streaming same day model working for studios? Im not an economist...they would have to depend on NEW subscribers to the streaming service, to offset the theater losses. Or they would have to pay-wall the movie on the app. Or, are they just accepting the minute, if any, profit on the movie, writing it off as a pandemic loss? A lot of these movies that were slated for the theaters cost upwards of 200M to produce!

Perhaps last week they were hit hard by the GvK opening, with another empty week ahead, the holdovers will continue to retain good businesses. 4 hours ago, OdinSon2k14 said: How is this Theater/Streaming same day model working for studios? Most of the studios aware is accepting the fact that they must do something, hybrid , PVOD, theaters exclusivity etc, wait for everything to go back to normal is the last thing they will do to keep their company alive. They are just kind of hoping the best among the worst.

Having a 40% drop on Sun is possible, but looks odd when most Easter openers have a harsher 2nd Sun drop than 1st Sun. Fri or Sat coming down a bit when everything got accounted for would be pretty normal and just make daily relations look a bit more normal for the weekend. BOM and The numbers still stubbornly have their Gvk opening at 32.2m. Also, if last GvK's 5 days opening is 48.1m, the Wednesday and Thursday's two day total should be 16.5m instead (added 0.2m) On 4/11/2021 at 11:55 PM, TwoMisfits said: About $25M Top 10 DOM...slowly getting better month by month... Really curious how Mortal Kombat, on a non-holiday weekend, goes...that's gonna be more a "where's the regular market" example heading into May... This number is still far far below from the pre-pandemic level when every random weekend we can have 100m++ grosses. Combining all the factors like 25-50% cap, fear factor, regal and Canada closure, these 25m is really just as good as it gets...
