John Marston Posted July 13, 2021 Posted July 13, 2021 (edited) Considering it's highly referenced in pop culture a lot and it was an action picture with a prime summer release date and had Patrick Swayze fresh off Ghost. Yet it only made 43m domestically and 83m worldwide and only ranked 29th at the domestic box office that year. Guess it was because it was overshadowed by Terminator 2 which opened the previous week, Keanu wasn't established yet, and the ladies didn't like that Patrick Swayze was a villain and all scruffy looking in the movie fun fact, the final shooting script of this movie was co written by Kathryn Bigelow and James Cameron, Edited July 13, 2021 by John Marston Quote
Maxmoser3 Posted March 4, 2022 Posted March 4, 2022 It was in a bad marketplace at the time because of Terminator 2. But take out Ghost, Swayze didn’t have any action blockbusters! Road House is a damn good movie but the film was not a runaway success either two summers prior. Next Of Kin couldn’t crack squat that fall neither. The summer of 1991 had too much action films and Point Break’s intended initial audience was at that point over saturated with what was on their plate(Robin Hood, T2, and Backdraft) Quote
