chasmmi
14th – Ratatouille 804 points – 34 votes (2 Top 5, 5 top 10 ) 2013 – 8th 2014 – 7th 2016 –13th 2018 – 13th My personal ranking – 70th – I think it is a very good film, but not a top tier film. (That line sounds familiar…) I think that I have made this comment every time these lists are made, but I never quite get how well this film does every time. Like it is a good film (and a rare example of a Pixar film where the ending is the highlight), but it never quite feels like it has that extra wow factor of films worthy of a top 20 placement. Yet here we are, once again, well inside the top 20 and fighting it out among the elite. That being said, 14th is the worst ever finish for Ratatouille, but this takes into account the previously mentioned fact that the top 13 are free and clear ahead of everything below them and as such, the only way is down really as new releases come out and push it down another spot. 12
chasmmi
13th – Toy Story 3 867 points – 32 votes ( 1 First, 5 Top 5, 2 top 10 ) 2013 – 2nd 2014 – 4th 2016 –10th 2018 – 5th My personal ranking – 76th – I think it is a very good film, but not a top tier film. (That line sounds even more familiar now…) Well, would you look at that; the huddled masses actually agree with me on what is the third best Toy Story film for a change. My personal order is 2, 1, 3, 4, but that has never been replicated in a list countdown before and likely will not be here. But we are closer than usual. What is more interesting is that a Toy Story film (ignoring 4) has finished outside the top 11 for the first time ever. That is a big deal and while I do not see Toy Story 3 dropping into even the 20s anytime soon (it is more likely to rebound back into the top 5 than do that), but it is a downward trend all the same. 8
chasmmi
12th – Inside Out 877 points – 31 votes ( 2 Firsts, 3 Top 5, 4 top 10 ) 2013 – Not Eligible 2014 – Not Eligible 2016 –1st 2018 – 1st My personal ranking – 10th – When this came out, it immediately became my favourite Pixar film of all time. It no longer is, but that isn’t on this film. First ever appearance on a list – 1st Second ever appearance on a list – 1st Third ever appearance on a list 12th. That is quite the slide. I mean, 12th best animation of all time still suggests that we are talking about a pretty decent film, but it is a big (and surprising drop). What makes the finish even more stark is how you can see from a few posts above that 29 lists in, this film was sitting pretty in 5th place only about 50 points off the top. So those final 11 lists really shook things up as far as emotion is concerned. I did not see this coming.
chasmmi
11th – Finding Nemo 881 points – 34 votes ( 3 First, 5 Top 5, 2 top 10 ) 2013 – 10th 2014 – 10th 2016 –14th 2018 – 11th My personal ranking – 42,595th – The worst Pixar film by a mile (well, thanks to Good Dinosaur slightly less than a mile. Still, I detest this film.) But seeing as this film is consistently about 11th on our all-time list, I am clearly the outlier. Don’t get me wrong, I still know that my opinion me the correct one, but it surprises me how so many people are wrong so consistently. J Thinking about this list, 11th actually feels like a disappointing finish for a film that was topping the standings at the halfway point and was still top three after 27 lists and 4th after 29. Yet just like Inside Out it has gone from being 50 points off the top spot to outside the top 10 in the space of 11 lists. 10
chasmmi
10th – Aladdin 889 points – 31 votes (2 First, 7 top 5, 4 top 10 ) 2013 – 9th 2014 – 6th 2016 –9th 2018 – 10th My personal ranking – 4th – My second favourite WDAS film and a film I can happily watch again and again and again ad infinitum. That is 5 countdowns and 5 top 10 finishes for Aladdin. There will not be many films that manage that I think. Definitely no more than 10 will do it at least. This does technically mean that this is a joint worst finish for Aladdin, but I think it is still a decent result. Some of the best animation, best voice acting, best songs. This film has everything one wants from an animated musical and if you do not like it… how?
chasmmi
9th – The Incredibles 895 points – 37 votes (5 Top 5, 3 top 10 ) 2013 – 4th 2014 – 3rd 2016 –4th 2018 – 7th My personal ranking – 41st – Consistently in my top 2 Pixar Films for years. Now it is about 4th. That is two films in the top 10 that are doing so for the fifth time out of five. That is also two films that are finding themselves in their lowest position to date despite how crazy high it is. That is also the second film in a row to receive a less well received follow up in the past couple of years or so. The difference is that while I was hoping to see Aladdin finish right at the top of the standings, I was kind of expecting Incredibles to do so. Therefore seeing them both merely finish very high instead of stupidly high, this was more of a disappointment for Incredibles I feel. 11

Toy Story's best order is 3, 1, (the top two are a virtual tie) 2, .....................................4. I'd have had this movie at #2 with Lion King at #1 (unless my mood changed, and then maybe I'd swap them:). That probably would have put it back at its needed top tier status. When you can end the perfect trilogy as well as this movie did, it's a world-class movie. I cannot think of another trilogy which earned its tone perfect and story perfect ending. And it was such a perfect progression to get there - there were no plot holes, story leaps, try hards...nope, just a perfectly written and executed trilogy. Just like Return of the King, you reward the ending more than the beginning if it sticks the landing (although for both, the beginnings are in a virtual tie with the end for quality of the movies, with the middle slipping a little:)... PS - We finally have proven we are not the same person in this ranking:)...
YM! Fully understand why it is not for all. Another Ghibli film based on existing literature and what a film it is. One of the hardest films a person will ever watch, Fireflies is a real gut punch of a film and one that will stick with most people that watch it. To be honest, people not liking it makes sense to me, people thinking it is great makes sense to me, I do find it harder to understand placing it like 70th. Just seems a film that you wouldn’t place in the ‘yeah, pretty good’ bracket. As far as its list history is concerned, this is a slight drop from the high point of 2018. It is still a good improvement on its first bow of 61st and suggests that it can be here to stay as a film ready to challenge for top 20 each time around. Never heard of this movie. Something to add to my watchlist. Great contest/thread @chasmmi

Not by a long shot. I found Toy Story 4 to be very mediocre. No scrap that, the first half is just plain dull and not much at all. Then in the second half everything changes and it becomes aggressively fine. In my eyes, this is a film that will peak with its first placement on this list and then slowly fall more and more over the next few installments. Toy Story 4 is my favorite Toy story 1
