The movies are back! Again!

Yes indeed, after the plague canceled last year's convention, CinemaCon has finally returned in all its glory, just as we’re about to head into this fall’s batch of exciting new releases. It’s a very crucial conference too, as movie studios now have to ensure theater owners that they’re best buds, that streaming won’t destroy everything, and they have enough strong, quality films to help keep the lights on as we head into the fall and winter season, COVID variants be damned

All this week, we’re getting new standees, posters, and other promotional material, and we will have several studio presentations. In these presentations, we will have reports from the Twitter accounts of yes-men bloggers and industry folks praising all the upcoming movies from 2021 and beyond. True we won’t get any actual footage, barring a potential Spider-Man trailer after it got leaked online, but just a few nuggets of information can go a long way.

As always, follow the golden BOT rules. Be nice, be respectful, don’t be a dick.

Schedule (all times are PST, use your local timezone converter):

Monday, August 23

Sony - 6-9 PM

Tuesday, August 24

MGM/UAR - 9:15-11:30 AM

Anyone who thinks either No Time To Die or Top Gun: Maverick are moving again, you're going to be disappointed.  Tons of stuff with the dates splashed all over them.

Yeah, i think those two are staying put. Actually, i don't see any major movies moving anymore.

@EmpireCityIs there anything from Sony in there? I figured I'd ask since you're seemingly there and because of... recent events, let's just say.

Lots of Last Night in Soho.

The Sony presentation is first up tomorrow, should be a ton of news out of that.

I just checked in to my room.  The elevators are all skinned out, huge amount of stuff for Top Gun: Maverick and Last Night in Soho.

Have a great time! Excited to see if we get a glimpse of anything for Scream on Thursday.

I’ve seen rumours of something for Resident Evil today too.

Why am I just now hearing about "Moonfall" I'm a whore for disaster movies and the moon falling outta orbit sounds interesting

We were this close to that being a Josh Gad vehicle, but we just dodged the biggest bullet in history

Still tickles me how they went from a name actor like Gad to random dude from Game of Thrones. That's one way of saving money!

A $140 million Roland Emmerich disaster epic.
ID4 Resurgence aside (and I try to pretend it never happened) we haven’t had an Emmerich disaster-porn joint for nearly 13 years.  Donald Sutherland in it = everything.

love these pics from the Con. Keep them coming!!

It looks like they've suspended their annual awards for this year cause I can't find anything. Here are what would have been the buyers winners for the few categories that were announced when the 2020 event was called off:

Male Star of the Year: Michael B. Jordan (for Without Remorse lol)

Excellence in Acting: Carey Mulligan (Promising Young Woman was weeks away from opening when the world fell apart)

Male Star of Tomorrow: Glenn Powell (for Top Gun: Maverick)
