No hope for cinema reopening in mid Sep?

I just mean that 45 day window seems like it is straight to Disney+ rather than a window for blu-ray and other digital storefronts between theatrical and Disney+ release as some thought was a possibility.

As for mid September opening it is possible but likely Melbourne, Sydney and Auckland will still be with closed cinemas but unknown when they will open again so will depend on if Disney wants to sit on Shang-Chi here or just try to make some money in the places that are open and hope the others open partway through the run.

I forget that FG already released in AUS & NZ. Dis should have released Shang Chi in 30% open AUS atleast, instead of delaying to mid Sep.

its funny that these so called ''box office experts'' to see if the box office is close to pre pandemic levels ,they compare the 2021 numbers with those of 2019 as if 2019 was a normal year (a year with one 800 mill earnear, one 600,two 400 or so and three 300)

is that real ? i hope not

It’s real. I told him to stop his condescending, passive aggressive attitude. He didn’t listen and continued his attitude. He was reaching 10 warning points, so he’s kaput. Sorry!

In terms of domestic box office 2018 was actually stronger than 2019, 2016 also stronger than 2019. So I fell it is a somewhat fair comp

Look at it this way 2015-2019 all above $11B (I expect 2022 to be above that figure as well personally) 2009-2014 were all above $10B

This year will likely end at $5B or so if it finishes strong.

You can pick any year in the last decade+ except last year (2020) for domestic comparisons - they were all pretty consistent, and all pretty much way over where we are now...we're getting better b/c we'll be much higher than 2020 by this year's end, but we're not to normal yet...
