Universal didn’t release A Quiet Place 2.

Yeah, didn't double check the distributor there for AQP II.  Have to bring it up with VA not me as to why he had it as an example.  Still works for Candyman, though.

Universal?  Wants to establish Peacock (Premium), presumably.

Creators?  Well in the case of Halloween Kills, I don't like to speculate, but getting all da money upfront is always an incentive.  And if it keeps them in Universal's good graces when it comes to Halloween's End?  Well, there's a calculation to be made here as well.

Yeah clearly its to push Peacock for more subs. Its just that horror and its sequels are performing well and it seems the wrong genre to target for subs as it cannibalizes box office to much. The Boss Baby I can understand but not this 1.

For fun, I am just comparing Shang Chi’s run to the other two biggest September releases (It 1 and 2).

Obviously it way behind the 1st It but performing pretty closely to It 2. Actually just grossed 100k more today than It 2 did in Sep 2019 with no pandemic and other circumstances.

I am not sure Shang Chi Will increase 220% like It 2 did on its 2nd Friday though lol. Maybe it will, fingers crossed. WOM seems fairly strong.

Sounds about right. A better Friday increase could get this into a low-50s drop, but it's probably not dropping sub-50%.

Hmm not great but I suppose in these times it’s pretty decent.

Might even go lower or we might be surprised. Let’s see, could be a big weekend for the Eternals release strategy.

I was hoping weekdays would be a little stronger going into the weekend. It’s not doing gangbusters  overseas either.

Without China, is 400m still possible?

Probably, some of it will just depend on overseas holds.

As for the weekdays, I am going to assume that you are still somewhat new to tracking box office. The weekdays (Tuesday and Wednesday) have been fantastic, particularly when considering the effect of Covid on the box. Keep hoping for better numbers :) its good to be positive
