Not impressed by these numbers but they are not bad. Just nothing special. The upcoming U.S. numbers is where people should panic.

No these are impressive numbers. Generally these numbers would mean $500M WW for a normal film, but the film will probably be a non starter in LATAM & Asia.

Without HBO Max may be could have done $125-150M in DOM but now I guess $70-80M is peak.

Is Italy the only country where this movie was released on Thursday instead of Wednesday like for every other big american release in pandemic from Tenet to Shang Chi?.

This can make a further difference in the confrontations of the first weekends.

Anyway i don't understand why Warner made this decision here.

It released on WED like all other movies and grossed $0.54M.

My mistake. It released on THU.

what do you mean? Dune in Italy? It was released on a Thursday. Its result is from a 4 day weekend while all the last marvel movies and any other american blockbuster got 5 days first weekend.

Now the're gonna say "we already knew about Dune chances to be the biggest opener since the last Star Wars (star wars without epidemic for you to know) in France. Until now everything is on prediction and of course very frontloaded"

😇

This movie had people rooting against it from day one, it just makes it more fun seeing them trying to cope.😁

Yep. It's hilarious to watch goalpost shifting. First it was going to bomb worse than BR2049. Now that it surpassed BR2049 in all markets where it opened, they are crossing fingers that it's frontloaded and will have bad legs. Lets see what they'll come up with next if it has good hold which I think it will.

Oh and nice to see @charlie Jatinder estimate going up from 37.5M (includes CIS) to 39M.

Am interested how Korea and Japan respond to this than China.

I currently have it at

Europe & MEA - $160M (BR2049 $107M)
LATAM - $20M (BR2049 $13M)

East Asia - $27-42M (JP $15-25M, SK $5-10M, TW&HK $7M) (BR2049 $16M)

China - $20-40M ($11M)

SEA & Pacific - $18M ($18M)

Total - $245-280M
