160k admissions in Germany this weekend and 1.06M total admission so far (4th film in 2021 with more than 1M admissions).
Not bad at all for a rather sunny weekend and Bond taking over most of its cinema halls (e.g. in mathäser NTTD had between 23-29 shows per day, Dune had ca. only 5 despite being number #1 two times in a row).
I wonder what numbers this movie would have had in Germany without capacity problems, restrictions and now this massive competition. But overall it's clear that part 2 wouldn't have any problems to find an audience.

Is it possible Dune can reclaim some PLF or IMAX screen back?? I guess unlikely, both are too long to coexist for premium format.

The total seem got revised upward more than weekend gross, suggest that they are adding back some missing gross. I still have this to be on par with Tenet's overseas and european number seem to support that goal but asian number will be hard since Nolan was such a big draw in east Asian. Like Dune's box office in Taiwan may only be half of Tenet.

Most likely France is adjusted $3M upward. @Shawn did WB send updated market breakup with $104M number.

Edit: Yep.

Dune absolutely destroyed Shang Chi in those markets! I have a feeling it's gonna do better in other markets too. Those few Asian markets posted surprisingly decent numbers. Nothing out of this world but no bomb either.

What's this tone?

Europe was never the market for Shang Chi nor a comp for Dune.

Wanna use Shang Chi as comp? Let's use for Asian markets. or America for that matter. Shall we?

What's this tone? Why are you suddenly so sensitive that I'm cheering an underdog Dune doing better than a Marvel movie in Europe? I said that Dune did surprisingly decent, nothing spectacular but not a bomb, in a few Asian markets it opened in. Also, while SC is doing well in Asia, Asia is not backing it up in the way UK and Europe is showing up for Bond or USA for BP. It's a decent hit but nothing too extra and I doubt it that China would have gone wild for it too.

Even 100 mill in china and thats the worst it was gonna do there would mean 550 mill or so ww, a chinese release would mean 600 mill ww for shang chi ,something that dune  wont reach even with china. As for europe marvel and especially unknown heroes are not big in europe ,except for maybe in the uk, so dune making better money is great but nothing to be really amassed imo.As for shang chi that movie was always going to rely in asia and latin america, markets that are not in a ideal situation right now like europe is.Finally yes dune is doing great but compare it to shang chi in europe really doesnt say much and no china release means no 500 or 600 mill ww so shang wont reach its current full potential like dune can and in the end dune will struggle to even reach shang chi final total ww sans china.

because Dune is no underdog against a low tier Asian lead Marvel movie in Europe. quite the opposite. SC has actually legged its way to a decent number in Europe after a slow start, matching BW numbers in most of them.

Bond is biggest movie franchise in UK and Europe. The only two proper Asian market SC had, it did par Far From Home, not because of Asian lead just being a normal MCU movie. SC in INT and Dune are completely opposite. SC is supposed to do well in MCU heavy markets of Asia while Dune in Europe.

There is no Dune "destroyed" SC in those markets.

that answers my question. Exactly what I thought when I said it didn't have NTTD/BP effect (but it could have had). People liked Tony Leung. But he wasn't the lead.

This whole convo is going tangent. My only objection is the phrase, "Dune destroyed SC in those markets", just because SC is not a benchmark movie for those markets.
