@WrathOfHan ok, since everyone is putting JAWS on their list, I'm going to revise my list, and include JAWS.  I apologize.  The next list I have for you I promise will be the final version.

 

  @Tower  ......love your list.  Love that you have Mandy so high and of course JAWS. Great mix of classics and newer films.

I used “repeated viewings” as the biggest factor. What do I want to watch again most often.

So far, I've received 11 lists (12 if I count Tele's 0.25 points towards TCM). Looking through, I wanted to flag a few titles that have shown up on lists not marked as horror on the main three sites and not addressed last time around:

 

Coraline (2009)

The Devils (1971)

Hellboy (2004)

Perfect Blue (1997)

Run (2020)

Take Shelter (2011)

Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit (2005)

 

I'm on board with keeping Coraline and Perfect Blue eligible; the rest are up for the thread's debate. Personally, I'm inclined to say Hellboy and Run should be ineligible as I think they both lack horror elements. Open to a conversation.

A re-submitted list is fine. Otherwise, discount that film and everything below it goes up one.

 

And I'm leaning towards allowing W&G since Ichabod and Mr. Crane is eligible.

I wouldn't hesitate in calling Coraline and COTW horror.

 

Hellboy I would agree is not horror.

 

I understand nobody else is ranking The Devils and I've ranked it very highly. I would proffer it as a masterpiece, and also would suggest the below article and the fact it has been on Shudder as evidence it is sufficiently within the horror genre to be classed as horror more than any other genre. Witchfinder General is generally considered horror and it, like The Devils, contains no supernatural horror elements beyond the stylistic overemphasis of genuine historic traits and events to demonstrate grotesque  societal horrors of the past.
