Making this thread as the film opens in a few markets today and rolls out a bunch of places tomorrow.

I have two things to say: MGM is nuts for rolling this out a week ahead internationally, and

(Don't click this till you've seen it :))

Spoiler

Cary Joji Fukunaga thinks Christopher Nolan is a sissy

Since when did copying other franchises become Bonds go to formula?

Everyone knows Skyfall was a carbon copy of THE DARK KNIGHT and now NO TIME TO DIE is a carbon copy of

Spoiler

Avengers Endgame.

I for one

Spoiler

hate it. Why make Bond realize he is a Father only to kill him? What the hell is the point of this? It is being different and taking a risk for the sake taking one a lone. Dumb dumb dumb. Also isn't this 3 straight films were bond starts off "retired" or "missing"? Who the fuck are they hiring to write these things?

After the utterly badass CASINO ROYALE, hard to believe the Craig films went out so discombobulated.

haven't seen it but I can comment on it because I read spoilers. Giving a kid to a character who dies is basically having a cake and easting it too. You kill the character but you give him and the audience the extention of the character so to speak so his passing doesn't hurt so badly.  It's a shitty trope but a popular one with writers.

Bond was a toast the moment they decided to make him and Madelaine the OTP. Her return should have been the red flag to eevryone. Nobody wants to watch Bond's domestic bliss especially with a dull as a dishwasher love interest, so someone was going to die and they weren't going to kill her (echos of Vesper Lynd). So it had to be him while she's promoted from Bond Girl to Bond Baby Mama.

No. In Spectre he was in service the entire time. Remember the end of Skyfall. He was on active duty

I've seen this complaint a couple of times now, and it's just blatantly untrue.

And how on earth is

Spoiler

this a carbon copy of Avengers Endgame when that movie featured Time Travel and NTTD started shooting before that movie even came out...

I'm pretty sure they are refering to

Bond sacrifice, young daughter, get a salute by remaining characters. That's similar to Tony Stark.

Have not seen it, but several reviews are revealing that

Spoiler

the villians big secret weapon involves biowarfare.

No wonder they were so quick to put it back back in 2020.....now that people have learend to deal with Covid they can probably get away with it, but in the Spring of 2020 it would have gotten the film blasted for bad taste.

Since at least MOONRAKER in 1979?

True, but Moonraker ,although it was a box office sucess.  has not stood the test of time well and is generally rated one of the weakest Bond films.

I also think Licence to Kill tried to imitate the 80's Schwarznegger/Stallione action movies and turn Bond into a 80's action hero.

Did not work all the well, one of the lower grossing Bond films.

Also

Spoiler

LOGAN, which at the time this was produced I think is what they were actually using as a model as opposed to ENDGAME.

I believe this film takes a lot of "risks", what i mean is that this film do a lot of things that never applied before for a Bond film. I spoiled myself before watching the film, and i thought i would hate it, but the truth is that it was fresh and weird at the same time, but i like it.

I think is a hit and miss because it tries to be a lot of things, it tries to be classic bond with the exotic villain lair and overcomplicated plan to destroy the world, but at the same time it tries to be a very grounded drama, and the contrast is what draws the attention.

Rami Malek is a generic villain, that goes from big to less, is a shame that he is the final villain of the Craig era.

But, i loved the action, love the atmosphere of epicness around it, and i loved the way that Bond evolves, i loved a lot. I think this James Bond finally finally steps away from his formers versions, Craig finally ends the transition from a two dimensional character into a compelling character that feels real.

And even so... i would call his "death" is a little bit ambiguous. Despite everything, in the end we see again "James Bond Will Return".

Is not my favorite Craig film, but i liked a lot, certainly better than Quantum and Spectre... by a lot.   Im gonna see this film at least other two times in the theater.

I think that baffling decision to make Madelaine of all Bond Girls his one true love hurts the last 2 Bonds. Not that Spectre was any good but Madelaine was a big part of why it sucked (boring character, ZERO chemistry with Bond) and while NTTD is much better by the sound of reviews, the no chemsitry/boring complaint remains. OTOH, everyone loves Ana De Armas who they say absolutely sizzled in a (sadly) small role. So WTF Broccoli?

Bond and Vesper have the chemsitry for ages

Bond and Moneypenny have a great flirty friendship

Bond met his match in Nomi (Lashana) and Paloma (Ana)

Bond has ZERO chesmitry with dull as a dishwasher proto damsel in disstress Madelaine

Lets make Bond/Madelaine the OTP!

They were locked into Madeleine by SPECTRE’s ending. It would be harder to sell her disappearing between movies and Bond falling in love during the pre-titles sequence than just trying to spark the relationship that’s already there.

I liked Madeleine in this movie. She’s still not Vesper or Tracy but Craig and Lea Seydoux act the shit out of it.

I know that they were the endgame in Spectre already, I just don't know how they couldn't see that the actors didn't have the spark. I guess they wanted to bank on her breakout with Blue Is the Warmest Color but still. Though it seems that she kinda acknoweldges that Vesper has always been THE ONE for him - suggestion that he visits her grave.
